today I washed 2nd engine cylinderblock. I sanded orange colour increased little epoxy primer where needed, taped and painted.

Im gonna use later model Mercury water pumps with 1936-37 truck 2row pulleys.
Then I can install McCulloch supercharger + Cirello magneto (426cid)+ 8BA style timing cover.
    I can make 5" 2row crank pulley.

Not easy to get all same line,.... but I have make some measurement and plan.

4hours and I have pumps ready. I pieced those, blowed with glass, cut neck shorter, machined pulleys inside, installed all, test measurements... Now pulleys are 10mm more near engine block than if I would install pulleys direct on shaft.

I dont know if somebody has done this before, but now I have 1950-53 mercury pumps with 1936-37 truck 2row pulleys. Aftermarket 4.25"stroke crank has long "neck" so easy to make crank pulley. I use industrial pulley. maybe 4.5" OD or bigger if possible to use it.

I dont have timing cover yet, so I cant make 426hemi magneto ready, but I suppose all is going OK.
I need to make new bracket for idler and have to use Red power (obtibelt) or Hi-Power (gates). Those are better for this kind of use when v-belt is turned both way.

Idler bracket is last job this belt drive case.
Just today I ordered from Italy SPB 150-2 solid pulley. I make hole and my friend have "keyway slicer".

Today I made oil line plugs (brass = rear, black hardered steel = front) and installed those.
Also started to install crank, rods and pistons.

Problem with Scat "China shit" connecting rods. All upper bushes are too small. those are not cylinderical.
Pin is going 60% (over half way) when stack very strongly. When push it from another side, its going only very little and stack. I have adjustable reamer, but it´s not easy to get bushing cylinderical if bushing is like "hourglass". I did it very very carefully and get 4 rods ready + installed with pistons and rings in to cylinderblock. 6hours 4set installation.... I reclamate to Scat.

I called to my friends who bought those 2 another 304cid stroke kits. They try to push pin thru rod and same problem. stacks very strongly. I wonder when american race, street and hot rod -parts companies are stop to manufacture stuff in China. Everytime something problems. Sometimes OK, but mostly "russian quality".
I had my street race 1968 nova Currie Enterprice 9" rear axle. They ordered couple of Years ring & pinion sets from china...... Yes, very much problems and they lost big money when customers didnt trust them anymore.
My car ring and pinion broken in Sweden 2019 Scandianvian finals. front wheels 1meter high in start and You know what happens when suddenly it drop down..... Oilpan broken, lower arms.... Yes, we installed new US Gear pro ring and pinion, new oilpan and fixed arms. 24h and I was racing again. China shit, damage american manufacturers reputation.

I honestly think they should do better QC on the processes and product coming out and make them get it right. Obviously they are not doing that...so who's to blame...you're right their reputation is being soiled and they're letting it happen...

Glad you can find a way around it...

You are 100% right. You can produce stuff in "banana countries" but You need to have waterproof production control. We have here rather much foreign people working in machinery, welding ...jobs. They are coming from Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus.... They earn here much more than homecountry, but their understanding about Quality is so different than we have here. This same problem is in Far east, China. Their qulity is not stable.

When Japan was produce very much stuff to USA (50´s....) they had very high quality level. They were (and still are) proud what they are manufacture. Japan was best subcontracting country ever.

I can fix those bushes, but it´s expensive if need to use professional machinery company help.
I think Scat need to react.

1st day in Rockingham dragway. Nice place. Clean, beautyful old style raceway.
My first trip in East-Coast US. Good roads, clean road/highway sides... I like!

My finnish friend testdrive 3 start today. Now good flow. No supercharger V-Twin nitro bike.
Today Samu get 5,33sec 1000feet/206mph with rather low set up.

Auliz... I preach Chinese garbage all the time... I think my close friends and colleagues are probably tired of hearing it! I'm sick and tired of having to fix Chinese quality fuck ups... And just don't trust it all together.

I was reading a thread the other day about building flatheads and I was surprised that Scat cranks will fail under boost. I guess these guys were pushing the limit, but they described them as failing quickly!

I was planning on putting together a 304 street engine for my next car, I will be watching this closely!
