We just found this real Henry Ford steel 32 3 window not far from our town. it was built by the guy i got it from around 1978 or 1979. he used to live in El Centro, California. he bought it in the mid 70's from i believe the 2nd owner. the second owner bought it in the early sixtes from the original owner? from what he told me the car was from the San Diego area? i really like it and feel fortunate to have been able financially to purchase it. he had sold the Boss 302 that he had origianlly put in the car, but the 4 speed and everything else was there. it still has the body by murry tag on the floor in front of the seat. i really could not believe it was all there. original fenders, boards, hood, splash apron, rear frame covers etc... it has a fiberglass dash but he also had the original dash also. anyway we are working on it now should be done soon. i'll update pictures as we make progress. it's going to have a flathead!!!! anybody have any idea of the history or anything please let me know.
Congratulations !,..... That is one sweet Deuce 3/W,.... besides the flathead what are your plans,..... like what are you going to replace the wheels with?
16" Steels, small ford hubcap (probably 40 car), firestone bias plys (probably 4.50 x 16 front and 7.00 x 16 rear. Not going to run a hood, and leave the 4 speed in it. we put the original dash back in already. It's going to be so cool to drive a Real 32. (never done it) i'll keep the thread updated as we make progress!
word to the wise...don't use 4.50x16 Firestones, go with 5.25x16's. They're almost exactly the same size but have a better load rating...and they don't bounce from being out of round.
Nice score. i've been frequenting San Diego area runs and meets since the mid 70's and don't recognise the car. Then again, it was done up in a Street Rod style that would have blended in. If it had a wild paint job, flames, blower, etc. it may have clicked in the brain cells. Maybe contact the San Diego area Over The Hill Gang, Prowlers, etc. to see if anyone remembers it. Being that you bought it from the 2nd owner-doesn't he have some history on the car? Great score/beautiful car!
NICE Deuce!! man that looks like a really nice car! what rear end, is it ready for a flathead? there are other engine options. dont mind me im a 'non flathead' type.
thanks for the compliments! i'm really excited to get it back on the road. gear jammer is a H.A.M.B.E.R. here in sierra vista. He is the one helping me put it back on the road. He has amazing talent and some very very nice cars also. I really appreciate him taking the time to help us with it.
Great looking car that is only going to get better with the plans you have for it.Congrats!!! I know you don't need any coacing but I would have to getrid of the steering wheel/column and replace the cloth with some roll and pleat leather or vinyl. Frank
the wheel and column are already gone. We put a 51 ford wheel and different column in it. i think it looks nice. the interior will get done in tuck and roll. eventually. just want to get it running first and enjoy for a little bit. Thanks for the compliments!
it has a lincoln versille? i think that's what it came out of. what is that a 9"? that is the rear end that was put in the late 70's. the flathead is ready. i thought about alot of different engines. but the flathead to me just looks really cool in a 32. sits low, sounds right etc...
