i paid $3000.00 3 yrs ago.... good metal underneath the paint, no rott, just collision damage...luckily the top was held on with tack welds, at impact the tacks just broke.... saving the door pillars and for the most part, the roof. it had all of its garnish moldings, chopped of course. IMO - if a person had to pick between collision or rust, choose collision.... altho, rusted out hulks can be saved with lots of patience and perseverance. i have found that 33/34 junk is in most cases, worse money wise. i dont really care what other people think about my choices.... saving something old from oblivion is worth it to me.
Holy shit!! That was a hell of a hit it took. Do have any pics of it being fixed and brought back to life? I'd love see how you brought it back.
Does the car in question have a smallblock ford in it? I found one on the internet several months back that matches this description...it was blue, with fenders, and had a horrible channel over what looked like model A rails, no firewall and at that time the guy was asking 14,000 but seemed very negotiable....if that sounds like the car I may still have pictures of it....
Ok...so let's talk low original mile(19,000), built in 1957, Nailhead, 39 Tranny, 40 Rear and brakes, old chrome, ...nothings been touched since mid 70's. How do you value this car?
Different category from the rusted hulks and dead circle track victims, obviously... huge markup just on condition and completeness as a '32, then another huge markup for being an intact early rod, more since it is an early rod with no chop or channel, more yet if you can dig up pics in a 1950's magazine...at least a borderline candidate for resto in Pebble Beach type rod class. Let's see...sorry, my calculator isn't wide enough to display the amount.
Hotware, thats a whole different beast there. Im going to coin the popular commercials PRICELESS!!! That car is perfect! Im a sucker for 3 windows instead of 5's but wow!!!
wow...I'll trade you my Donna's 95,000 mile original '67 RS Camaro, a '29 all original, running A sedan, a '56 Chevy truck...and...and...I'll even throw in Donna. She's a great cook and has big boobies...
John LaBelle sent me these photos 15 years ago of this 32 5 window he had purchased. Looks to be an old Hot Rod magazine cover car. Hard to put a price on a historic hot rod.
threre was a deuce roadster for sale in a mid 60's Hot Rod for $800. that's when I reaalized i could never afford one of those. Got a Great Wescott 20 years later for 15k, still gld to have it. Will someday own a Brookville.
The 5-window deuce coupe described in the original post sounds comparable to mine when I bought it a couple years ago. I gave $5000 for mine and was very hesitant to do so. But, as a friend said at the time, it is what it is, and thats what they cost. The alternative is never to own a real deuce coupe ... and that's just not acceptable option.
Well when my dad got his 5 window it was $75, or trade for 283, of couse he didnt have a 283 at the time....
Wow...talk about "the way it was"! Only problem with this thread is now everyone who is SELLING a 32 is now thinking about adding a zero on ...
Sorry guys, but I just have to throw this in there with all of the other 5W's. Picked this one up in Columbus Ohio in 2004 for $10,000 even. Had 1966 Nebraska license plates on it from the last time it was on the road. NO RUST, 62 Vette 327, white R&P interior and WW slicks and a super clean 25 louver hood. Guy offered me triple my money at a time of need and that's the last time I saw it. But I can still say I USED to own a Duece Coupe. Funny story.... The guy I bought it from built it in the early 60's. At the time he had a guy he didn't like buggin the hell out of him to sell him his 62 Vette. When he finally agreed to sell it to him, the guy lowballed him on the vette. So, he told him he could have the vette in a week, went home, pulled the Vette 327 and swapped it with the old 283 that was in the 32 and THEN sold him the vette.
That narrows it down; but realistically price is going to depend on condition and completeness. You might find a Model A body for a couple of grand, but not a 32.
A shitload of Norwegian kids with hope to be highest bidder . They all wanted to buy a neglected, used/abused/rusty but still Real Henry 5w body Klaz
