As much as I like the beauty line on the '32 Ford ch***is, I'm thinking about channeling my '32 Vicky, and raising the rear wheel wells to center the tires. I'll be using new frame rails, so the question is do I build the ch***is to stock width dimentions or should I narrow it to allow for stronger wider sub rails? Feel free to post photos of good & bad '32 channel jobs. :)

    Ch***is left at stock width.
    How about 2.5" channel ?

Build ch***is stock width. If you narrow the rails you will start to get the model A look down there. On a 32 body there is enough subrail to drop body around the rails. I have never channeled a 32 but have UN channeled a few. Steve

We're gonna be building a channelled 32 roadster and plan on making the frame. Why use a stock frame if you're gonna cover it. A 2x4 frame will give you more interior room when done.

Hah Hah Hah, You're a man after my own heart. I've been gettin' blasted by a few of my freinds here because I've decicded to channel my 3-window.
**** them reveals I thinkl the damn thing is gonna look 10 times better sittin' on the running boards.:D
But not lookin' forward to raisin' those wheel openings though. It's been so long since I've beat any tin I don't know if I still can or not.LOL
    I say go for it.But I don't really think normal. ;)
I'm also goin' for polished aluminum 3/4 hubs with wide 5's painted black and stainless trim rings. With a Cad motor and a Nash 5 speed. Kinda a retro roundy round gone rad street rod kinda thing.

Channel it about 2". This leaves the famous reveal line exposed and even accented.

leave the frame stock width . 2x4 tubing would be better , like clark said. till you get to the fire wall . then you need 32 rails , glad ya got the ball`s to do it ! rasing the beads , it`s a lot of work , but well worth it ! let me know if I can be of any help I`ve done a few casey. don`t listen to the silly people on here , cut it !!!! screw that stamping flaw in the frame ? O **** ! did I just say that ! channeled cars are better looking to me , I cut mine when I was 14 years old ,26 years ago. I havent missed that stamping flaw since ! dam I said it again

Something no one has mentioned yet is that American Stamping makes a long version of the front frame horn... or front section of frame if you prefer to call it that. (I forgot what they actually call it)

Point is if you're using new rails anyway this piece goes right to the start of the reveal... actually has a few inches of it. So theoretically you could build the rest out of 2x4, have a bit more room, and it would be a bit cheaper if you care about such things.

Everyone is so locked into showing off that silly reveal that they forget sometimes a particular Deuce looks better channeled. Yeah, I said it.

When the car is channeled 99.9% of the start of the reveal is hidden anyway by the cowl that has to be raised(curved) to match the fender curve.
    Don't be a sissy whack it's ***sssss!

Thanks for all the input so far. The body remains I have to start with are so bad that I don't want to use anything other than a stock '32 frame as a base to rebuild it. I'll have to find that old thread on the rear kick up Clark used on his coupe. With the body flush with the bottom of the frame I hope I can still use an uncut grill & shell. Car will have a full hood, but I haven't desided what to do with the frame forward of the firewall. If you have a photo of Ken Schmidt's Rolling Bones 3Window, just picture that as a channeled '32 Vicky. :)

I would cut the grill , to keep from bending / rolling it under. Come on show us how bad the body remains are, I love a challange ?

I like this thread ! after the channel job , then section it before the chop ! cause ya gota stand back and look at it ! your gona want to take out more than you think ? then you can cut 2 inches off the top of those frame rails and drop them down behind the fire wall ,to the back of the seats , to gain a lot of room .oh yea sacrafice a model a ! to the deuce god`s and lean you seat`s back , good luck

  16. the37kid,
just some food for thought, what about on top of the ch***is in rolling bones style. just imagine dennis varni's deuce tudor as a vicky [ maybe some one could photochop that into a vicky]. lance sorchik has a b400 getting done in that style, should be a photo of that somewhere.

Al, You're right the Varni Tudor is a nice car, I've got a 354 Hemi for my Vicky, just bouncing around ideas for this long tern project.
