Is there a "left" and a "right" front fender brace for a Deuce? Or are they the same and interchangeable?? I have a pair of Brookeville front fender braces and they don't seem to fit my Henry fenders very well. While I know my fenders need work, they seem to be off quite a ways at the headlight bolts and the hole where the fender mounts to the brace at the bead.

Ford only had one front fender brace to my knowledge.

B16025 is the number on my pair. HRP

The repro front fender braces fit is very poor. I've used several pr and have cut them off just beyond the headlight bar mounting holes. Mostly for tire clearance but also because of the poor fit. I just used a pair of uncut Henry originals with Brookville front fenders and the fit wasn't perfect but it was very close. Cutting the braces has not affected the integrity of my fenders to date.

Repops are trash , no one sells good fit parts . I suspect all comin from same punch dies , and sold by different companies .

I was always told that without the fender brace the fender would develop stress cracks on the bead or elsewhere. But you haven't found this?

I have been told their are lefts and rights in original form. I had several a few years back. You could see a slight difference in them when you tried to pair them up. Their were no part numbers on them. I'll ask David over on the barn.

When I built my '32 sedan years ago, I had a whole pile of original front fender braces. There was a definite left and right brace. I tried to swap them side to side and the curve was different left to right.

I pulled the Henry fronts off for safe keeping and put brookvilles on. Had Henry braces. Not close to fitting the brookvilles. Used repo braces and spent hours heating and bending them to follow contour of fender for tire clearance. When I did that the end of brace ended up short, or too high, for correct fender bolt hole placement. Cut and extended brace. Since brookvilles come with no holes, you have to start this drill by mounting braces , bolting headlight bar on to get proper spread. A friggin jig saw puzzle for sure. In the end, the most tire clearance possible, you can run a business card between fender and brace, and mounting hole is in correct location.PS, fenders aren't the same contour left to right.
