I pick up a 32 Ford headlight bar and compared it with others I have, there are several differences. Length, hole size for headlight, castings where it bolts to fenders. The longer one is correct length. they both have the stainless cover and are drilled for the V8 emblem. Why the difference? early 32? Thanks for any help.
Pete Eastwood will know what they're from. He straightened and dropped the headlight bar on my 3W after it was wrecked.
OK , I'll try to lay it out so all can understand . Ford made the '32 lite bar out of 4 components. A right side forged end, a left side forged end, a piece of 11/16 O.D. rolled tubing curved into an arch, and a piece of thin stainless steel clad wrapped around the center piece of tubing. The rolled tubing has a seam that is not welded, the stainless clad piece has small 'lips' that are tucked into the non welded seam. There is an "early" '32 lite bar & a "late" '32 lite bar. With the early lite bar the center of the arch is very close to the grill bars. With the late lite bar, Ford rotated the tubular arched center piece forward, just slightly, to give more clearance at the center, between the lite bar & the grill. V8 cars had a hole in the center of the bar for the V8 emblem. 4 cylinder cars had no hole. Truck bars had no stainless steel clad. I believe all models : 4 cyl. V8 & truck came in "early" & "late". About the lite bars in question in this thread. The longer one seems original . The other one looks as though the lite mounting holes have been enlarged & it surely has been shortened . Cl*** dismissed . . .
