a couple of years ago I bought a set of Drake reflectors to replace my old dulled reflectors.
I don’t recall that there were two types, but just checked to find I have the new preferred type.
Looking forward to installing them soon.

I have no personal experience with these.

There are a LOT of seal beam replacements available. Not all will be plug and play.

It seems what you have should be adequate if they are receiving full 12 volt power.

 

Like many shops that offer this setup the say the kit will be shipped from the manufacture, knowing Bob Drake was the manufacturer I sent them another email.

A lot of the Model A guys have gone to LED. This type does not use the reflector so it doesn't matter if it's rusty.

@SDS , are you using relays to power your lights? Or powering them through the headlight switch?

It may make a difference , especially depending on wiring length and Amp capacity of the switch.

 

I remember when I was 15 and owned a 1930 Model A sedan. It was all stock and having no money, I used taillight bulbs in the headlight buckets. I only drove it around town and since I didn't have a license yet, my only concern was looking like I had headlights so the cops wouldn't stop me.

I second the above idea to convert to LED...with un-vented headlight buckets, however, I might be concerned with heat build up. LED's generate a lot of heat in the transformer, hence the heat sink fins in 29sleeper's photo.
I was just looking at Grote 7" LED lamps - they are cool but non-traditional reflector lamps...supposedly shine as bright as a new BMW. Big $$$ though.

If I recall you're one of the guys that did a lot of 3-D printing would you be up to the challenge of making a die ?

I cannot find nobody in my area even big business that has 3-D .

I've used the Bob Drake conversion for like 18 years 3 cars with no issues I just don't like them because they're plastic reflectors

 

The ideal product for some aluminum spinning. Make a wood mold and have a company spin a few hundred.

 

There exotic materials out there to make bucks out of epoxies , If mold 3-D , then make buck off 3-D I think a 20 ton jack / press could form from aluminum or Tin ,
Spinning aluminum is neat ,I lean spinning aluminum in 70's .
B-D are not just dish / concave.
In my Area shops business that have H*** or ect . They want a blueprint or program instead of a sketch on a piece of paper

Have you looked at the Holley Retro Bright lights. Buddy was going to get some 7" bulbs for his off-topic car, haven't talked to lately to see if he sprung for them. Quite costly; but sound interesting.

 

Too funny. And a huge shout out to the HAMB guys. Sold my last set of repop 32 ford headlights to a buddy who had to have them (vintiques) and was kinda pouty I did. Now I’ve been educated that there was a better repop out there with the bob drake one. If for no other reason than better visibility (which I really like) and god smiled on me (I think, cause the wife keeps reminding me that I’m at the swap to sell, sell, sell).
Lull in the action so I had time to open the package.
Are these the good ones? Did I score? Or am I just a ****er?

I'm surprised they haven't done so yet

Sure; but I was responding to SDS' post about his BLC lights.

 

Their focus keeps shifting to newer and newer stuff. I get it. There are fewer and fewer customers looking for the stuff the people on this forum. We are a shrinking niche.

 

I feel Holley web page hard to navigate,
When using search most time comes up with like 1,000 results when should be maybe 100 , same with Summit .
I think they make for 40's up to 80's
Single round 4 round
same with single square & 4 square.
I would think in Fords many would be sold A's & 32-34 or so
other brands not so much
Wasn't 7 inch seal beam most manufacturers using by 40
