Ouch. The sarcasm is dripping off my screen. I step on your toes in another life or somethin? The car was built twenty years before I was born- 32 cowl, doors, frame, grill... I'll have to ask Bob but I'll bet the title says 32. In every publication it's been featured in it's referred to as a 32. Given that most of the car is genuine 32 ford parts, I chose to put it in a 32 roadster thread as one my favorite cars, and I believe it has just as much right to be there as a glass bodied, Repro framed car. In any case It's just as much an inspration to me as any of these other 32's. In any case if you put '32 quarters on your '30, It would still be a '30 with '32 quarters. Just like Bob's is a '32 with '29 quarters..
Actually the second roadster pictured is neither a '32 nor is it a true roadster! It's had the roof chopped off. The body lines at the cowl/dash are waaay off as is the rear surround for a '32 roadster. As far as the site you posted,"DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ". Trust me, I own 12 Model A's, including 2 late '31 roadsters, a '31 2 door deluxe phaeton and a '31 roadster pickup...all original cars that I've had since the early '60's I also own a '32 roadster ....Mike
I agree Bob. I guess I did get a little carried away.......This guy's way of reasoning reminded me of my Ex-wife's. Maybe that's what lit me up...Mike
Should have just called it "The Roadster Pic Thread". That way it wouldn't matter what year or Frankenstein creation it was...
Dude. You have a lot of cars. I'm sure you know what you're looking at. I do too. I'm surprised so many people are coming together to argue about something so stupid. Bob Bleed is a cool dude, established Hamb'er, and owns a seriously cool ROADSTER. Bottom line. I just wanted to see a bunch of 32 roadsters to give me some inspiration. Now I want this thread to go away because I feel like it's turning some undue disrespect torwards Bob.
I took that pic at the LARS a few years ago. Always wondered what he did with the car. He seemed like a cool guy. Didn't seem too upset about the whole deal.
No worries. We're all the same people here. I really think you'd like the story of this car. Check out this article over at rod n custom. http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/featuredvehicles/0703sr_1932_ford_roadster/index.html Bob lives here in Austin now and I've seen this car in person. I can't describe how uber-cool it is. This car has what can only be described as SOUL. It sits perfect. It sounds perfect. It cannot look any cooler.
I was out in the Roadster to day, and took this one in front of this old Standard Station. HemiDeuce.
Enough arguing about Bob's car. How about some more pics instead? Joe Nitti Roadster = most beautiful deuce ever
Wow..I just read all the madness about Bob,,,haahhaa geeeez that car was built 51 years ago..3/4 of the car is 32 and every time I hear it start it give me chills.
What a car !......This car has to be seen to be believed ! Me and Barry went for lunch today, and there you were.............gone....
Where is that Standard station? Sure makes a great background, for such an incredibly perfect roadster. Looks great with and without fenders.
