Just read this this morning. Pretty messed up 1932 Model A Ford damaged by pizza delivery car <!--sub***le--><!--byline-->Daily News Wire Services <!--date-->Posted: 11/15/2010 06:51:58 AM PST <!--secondary date--> <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> var requestedWidth = 0; </SCRIPT> <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> if(requestedWidth > 0){ do***ent.getElementById('articleViewerGroup').style.width = requestedWidth + "px"; do***ent.getElementById('articleViewerGroup').style.margin = "0px 0px 10px 10px"; } </SCRIPT>DOWNEY A man in his 80s is on the mend from minor injuries, but his 1932 Model A Ford received major damage after being T-boned by a pizza delivery car, a Downey police dispatcher said. The man was turning left from Downey Avenue onto Imperial Highway at about 6:15 Sunday afternoon when his car was hit by a Honda that was serving as a pizza delivery car whose driver was turning left from Imperial Highway onto Downey Avenue, the dispatcher said. A video journalist at the scene said the impact of the crash pushed the Model A back onto Downey Avenue, and caused significant damage. He said the man had minor head injuries, but that the delivery driver was not injured.
Not likely. If he was 89, then he would have been born 1920/21 and have been 12 when he bought the car in the middle of the depression.
weather or not the news people know what end of a pencil does the writing..or the difference between a 32 Ford or a Model A.. I just hope his minor injuries heal up well, and that he sues the **** out of the idiot that probably doesnt even have a clue what his responsibilities are when behind the wheel, especially when representing a company..
I want to know what the 32 looked like and if it was an original car... and that owner is ok. Why do bad things happen to good cars?
Hello Everyone, Im the grandson of the man in the Model A Ford and let me make a correction it was actually a 1930 Model A. To answer everyones questions he isnt the original owner but it has been in the family since 1930..... Does anyone happen to know who the journalist was that was taking the video of what Happened we miss place it with everything that has been going on....
Thanks for signing in and giving us the real story. Sorry about your Grandfather's misfortune. Hope he can recover quickly and fully and very sad about the Model A especially since it's been in the family since new....Don.
Gotta love pizza delivery guys- one took out the side of my '70 Nova playing "Dukes of Hazzard" in the snow... 3 weeks after it was painted!
To the average yutz, if its pre fat-fender and post Model T, its a "32". Hands up, how many Model A owners on here have had some guy at the local cruise night come up to them in the last 6 months, and say "Nice deuce"?
Hi Nate! Hope your Grandfather is ok and doing good! When I read the post I figured he had an "A" with a '32 grill? An old Hotrodder!
Nate, I hope the damage isn't too bad to both your grandfather and the A. Anyone ever notice how we kinda focus on the wrong part of a story like this?? Like some bum reporter is going to know the difference. Doc.
Thank you everyone he is recovering good a lil beat up, its worse than what is said he broke his knee cap but he is fine. The good news is that the car is fully covered and they are repairing the damage.... Heres a pic of what the accident looked like
Oh Man,,that's ugly I do hope you granddad heals up well. I wouldn't be surprised that pizza delivery guy wasn't playing with a cell phone texting!HRP
Thank you, we think he was speeding to make the light that he turned at, He needed to make the delivery on time and didn't want to wait but thats just what we think happened
That **** will buff out. Welcome to the HAMB. Car's still salvageable. Best of luck to your grandpappy's speedy recovery.
Glad to hear your grandpa is doing well and as said before, the car can be fixed. Make sure they pay to repair the car to original shape with steel replacement parts, or NOS!
