Lookin good Aulis As Larry says maybe bigger rears! Have you consider comeing back to the vintage drag circus? ............................... Taildragger&fenderless
Hello, bigger tires is good idea, but maybe i leave car like its now. I just bought Old Harman&Collins magneto from Norway and have some another " vintage stuff investments" coming from USA so maybe not buy new tires this time. Originally 40´s reason why they were used higher tires was only to get more speed, not outlook,.... then they did not have 3.25 ring and pinions available (in webshops,..) I just come home from Tampere show. Tomorrow I clean up garage and start to make engine, water tubes, exhaust ready. Rgds, AULIS NB. Sorry, I have own circus now here. Im nearly 50y old and my first kid (Oscar 1y 4month) takes time and energy. My dream is to send this Roadster on August to California and leave car there. That takes also resources (money, time,..).
Hey, No throphy from Tampere. There was so much hi-quality hot rods and my "middle-class" job was not enought,... Maybe I must go to "hot rod school" to get some more tips and tricks for building,... anyway, Here 4 pics more. Young rodder who finally owns all junk in my yard. Rgds, Aulis
Of course I can leave some before Photos. Sari, if You want more photos to Your mailbox, I can send more direct to You. You know my email address. Rgds, Aulis
III "before" photos. All these and earlier "before" photos are September-October 2011. Everybody knows that it takes time to make all jobs. 8months and +1300hours is possible if goes to garage every morning 5.30 and have dayjob home so can use longer mornings, afternoons/evenings with project. It takes more time if You have CommunalGarage (jointgarage). I had +20years ago jointgarage with Mika Valle and Juha Mehtala and after that I have try to keep own garage. No missing tools, can invest expensive tools and machines and not need to show with finger if something is missing, broken,..... Rgds, AULIS
Congratulations...what a great build up!! I am rebuilding my A-V8 right now and will - with your permission - maybe "steel" one or another idea!! Again - this car is very, very nice. regards from Switzerland, Peter
Hello, Thanks N847 and Peter. I have enjoyed this winter very much. I have good situation that I work home (dayjob and own hot rod shop), so my days are flexible. Feels every week that its "christmas time",... and today I got 7kg shipment from Norway (Thanks Pål !!), Harman & Collins magneto. Fits earlier 59A,81A,... and 8BA engines too. Hope that it works, but if need to "load" it (I belive must do that), I know some old guys who are doing that here in Finland too. Aulis
Thanks Marty. Exhaust system is "under construction" and maybe can try to start engine during next 2 weeks,... Aulis
Thank You Sirs. Not "trailer queen quality", but try to make it good to drive and have lot of kilometers/miles this summer. This ScoT is small but very good condition. Maybe get some horsepower more,...hope so. but if have good torque thats enough for me. Rgds, AULIS
just saw that you want to leave the roadster in California...I "had" to leave my model A in Salt Lake last year...and have no time to go back to drive the sh.. out of it this August!!! So think twice before you do it, believe me!! And - don't worry about the "no trophy thing" in Tampere. Your roadster is very nice and you can drive it. Some trophy cars are not made for the streets... here is my "beater" after the trip from NY to Speedweek:
Hello, Nice picture! I was living in LA (Culver city, Pomona) some winters and I think I leave car there because I have one car here (coupe). You know finnish summer, 2-3month long and not so much "roadster weather" here at all. I think, I go there twice year to drive and have also free garage available,... But,.... if problems before Autumn or "force majeure",.. I do not ship roadster. Rgds, AULIS
Intake and blower stuff are sodablasted. Jr ScoT is going together. I can say that ScoTs very good quality. Small tolerances and all fits perfect (if compare old 4-71, 6-71,..). Harman&Collins Magneto is working fine. Machine jobs are made and now adapter fits perfectly. Made same time new bearingbronze to support drive parts and made space for seal too. Gives nice 1/2" long spark. I leaved it old outlook, not polish too much. Aulis
Thank You Sir. Water tubes&hoses are finally ready. Not so much free space for upper tubes, but just TIG welded all together and screwed Shermann brass clamps on their places. Lower Adapertubes came from Flathead jack (175usd + economy shipping to Finland 163usd,.... Somebody is taking good profit, if we talk about shipping costs,.....). + finlands customs fees + VAT 23%,..... = adapters are more expensive than family silverspoons. Hope that original 1932 V8 radiator is not leak. Rgds,AULIS
Thanks Jim. Next Tuesday I try to start engine up. Industrial exhibition took 4-5days but finally get fuel tubes ready and today I made rear brakelines. 1-2days wiring jobs and monday they have get ready 6V battery in shop I bought it. Tomorrow need to make also support for blower driveshaft. Rgds, Aulis
