What a beautiful car! And a great color. Looks like a great day on the beach... except the broken leg
I still feel a little way off, so I haven't really been looking (and Summit red is looking likely) but this stream got me looking... I think my dream color is "medium maroon".
Like what you have done, seems well considered with solutions that are yours. Looking forward to the cowl/dash are repairs and integration. Keep it up.
We hauled it to DMV and got a****le and plates! I've been picking away at little fit things. Steering column was almost rubbing the headers so I moved it a little. Hood is getting lots of attention as it had some cracks and isn't fitting quite like I'd like. I'm finding as I straighten it out it fits better. Even though I have the cord at the firewall, the hood is still sitting low. I might need to put something under the cord, or find a bigger cord to get it to match the cowl level. Anyone else deal with this? The funny thing is, the cowl and hood are from Ford so I would have****umed they'd fit better together ha.
I've heard the reproduction hood cord is often too thick and needs to be pounded flatter on the work bench prior to install. Nice progress! I like the OG on the new plate.
Me too. Oddly, it seems like mine isn't thick enough as my hood sits noticeably below the cowl's body line right now.
This cowl fit deal is pretty common from what I’ve seen. Way I solve it is to cut some fuel line hose in half and hide it under the lacing.
Good to know, thank you. I thought maybe I did something wrong since I saw posts complaining that the rope stuff was too thick and I seemed to be having the opposite problem. I was wondering if I forgot a spacer under that center-of-cowl hood strap holder thing... but then if I raised that up it would be higher than the cowl bead so I doubt it. Fuel line, I like it.
Over the year the lacing go's flat , need to build up ,,, then there is New way to thick ,, Nice looking !
Good thought, but the hood line bead isnt lining up with the bead on the cowl and it's lower than the profile on the top of the cowl so i think i can safely say my hood is a little low. There's also a slightely larger gap near the bottom of the cowl, also indicating it needs to come up at the top/back
Yep, although i think i might try some of this newer thick stuff ha. Mine came in an old bag with my Ford parts and was older... probably the older thinner stuff ha
If you havent's done it, it's a good idea to get a good "standback" (way back) look at how the hood top flows from the cowl to grill shell, I've seen a lot of real nice cars over the years that you could tell they were built in a narrow shop. Some slight shimming under the radiator/grill shell may also be needed. Roll the car outside, but you'll have to wait until the big rain "event" that is predicted has passed. Oregon, you would have thought they'd have fixed that by now.!
I think the one you saw for sale I bought if it was in portland. It was a slightly cut up and slightly rusty 32 pickup cowl with no a pillars
