Flip, great progress and can see (sort of) why you are so excited. To help us see that better can yoyu please post full sized images, not thumbnails
Decided to go back a bit and have the top radiator outlets moved so I can run the generator up top and it won’t stick out the side and fuck with the hood sides. Unhappy to take a step back but I’ll be much happier in the long run!! In the meantime I’ve buckled down and pretty much got the rest of the car together. Wiring is done and I’m dangerously close to firing this sucker. FLiP
Still waiting on the radiator shop but atleast my town has one!!! Got the lettering started on the c ar yesterday but yer going to have to wait to see the car when it’s all done. A couple days ago I also spent about 3 1/2 hrs motor turning the wheels disks and got them installed. The details take the longest but the list is getting Very Very short. RPM Nationals here we come! Today I decided to tackle the rubber floor mats. I’m going to have the interior done but didn’t want carpet. Unfortunately this shows off my less than good sheet metal skills but I actually don’t give a fuck at this point and the throttle/brake area is WAY to tight for carpet so this’ll have to do. Indoor-outdoor solid rubber mat and some Velcro, BOOM. The sweet hipster faux ship lap will be covered by fabric next week so don’t trip on that either. FLiP
I used similar paneling boards under the upholstery in my T roadster, worked out well. I have somewhat similar floor mats too, mine were cut out of a 50's Thunderbird trunk mat.
I got the interior done and got the car running but didn’t make the RPM’s. Here are some pics to look at. If you go to my Instagram I’ve got a video of it driving. I had Clay and Tim Sutton helping me to get it ready but it just didn’t happen. I’ve got a few bugs to work out and it just wasn’t ready and safe for racing. I got the non Covid flu and it kicked my ass so I honestly didn’t give a shit. Next year or the GNRS maybe. FLiP @flipshotrodaddiction
@DeadFast 33, On the bright side the deadline motivated you to get it done even if it was a little late. It came out great and now you are feeling better and can enjoy it.
I got the bugs 90% worked out and got the car running and made it to the race of gentleman (TROG) in Riverside…..it was amazing!!! It’s Been only a few days and I can hardly wait till next year. There were some really fast cars and though mine was quick my ability to launch without broiling the tires will take a little more time. I won 1 and lost 4 but had a 100% good time. FLiP
Congratulations, she is a beauty and you did well and the fun has begun. Much easier to work out little bugs while you enjoy it.
Really neat and trim and sanitary, nice execution and looks like a metric tonne of fun. Please keep posting- hope to see it in street trim with the top and headlights.
