Hot Rods 1934 3 Window Coupe Find --Build

  1. Man that episode of that massive haul might be my favorite ITG episode of all time. That was truly an "epic" haul and that term is beat to death these days but that is the true definition.

F-1 steering box installed today. The stock flange was trimmed off, box was fitted to framerail, and new mounting flange welded on.

Column drop is a 36 Ford that was lengthened.

  10. Nice.....makes me wish I'd done my chassis more traditional.

Some more progress. Rear frame horns bobbed and tucked into the tail pan. Block off caps for the exhaust dump tubes were made from model A piston tops. The wing nuts are British bicycle hub fasteners.

I found the gas tank at Hershey this past year and it tucks nicely into the trunk area. Floor cover made for the model a Spring in the rear.

Firewall was fixed up where it was previously cut and smashed down for a battery. 698694004.jpg IMG_0814.jpg 698694044.jpg imagejpeg_0(1).jpg 698694118.jpg Screenshot_20230221-131256_Chrome.jpg

Tailpan bead had lots of bumps and bruises. Looked like someone tap danced on it. Inner structure temporarily removed and dents knocked out. Por 15 then inner reinstalled. Much better!

You know it's not too late to get one of those small block Chevvie crate motors to put in there...

You are doing an outstanding job.

Pulled the body off the frame. The frame and suspension now have a fresh coat of black . Everything reassembled and brake lines ran

Perfect patina…please don’t destroy it. If you are hardcore enough to run a Flathead, you are hardcore enough not to F-up the original paint!
This is what is called a HOT ROD!

Yep…perfect patina! Take note of the brownish colored primer NOT the BRIGHT ORANGE stuff that is so widely used today!

The decklid on the 34 came off today for some tweaks to get it fitting better. Cool original Ford black still on the underside too. Driver side door hinges got some adjustments to fix a door sag. Body lines fitting up nicely now. You can see how much the body line was off in my last post above
