Technical 1934 Ford Toe Board hole?

    I have done some searching with no real answers on the function of this large hole you could almost slide a coke can through....

    So ...

    Does anyone have a real idea on what the big hole in the toe board right above the trans pan is there for?

    And How did you seal yours up?

    Well if it's not the shifter or the emergency brake would it be for a floor mounted starter pedal? I don't know any original 34 fords so I've never seen one so just guessing.

    I think at that time Ford had a grease fitting, maybe it was a grease cup, and a hose to lube the cross shaft of the clutch linkage.

    Edit- looks like it was for the throw out bearing, not the shaft.

    It is for access to grease the early style throw-out bearing as mentioned above. There is a similar oval hole in 32 Ford floorboards for the same reason.
