Projects 1934 Plymouth 2 door sedan build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RMR&C, Nov 19, 2017.

  1. More assembly... Starting to look like something. Need to sort out the radiator hoses and fan shroud then start wiring.
I ordered my front tires also.

Scott, did you build that shroud or is off something else? Who widened your '36 Plymouth/'36 Dodge pickup rear wheels? Those look really great!

    Dave

  10. The shroud is from an early F100 I think, I had to heavily modify it. It was a huge pain in the ass but it should work out pretty good. I built the rear wheels using the hoops from some white spoke PU wheels.

Finally got my glass cut and managed to get the w/s into the frame without breaking it. This old chrome frame is OE to the car, and not great, but will work til I find a better one.

It's coming along real nice ! So what are the plans for the top? Chicken wire and batting or masonite and foam? I did the masonite and foam on the General and it turned out fine.
You gonna have it ready for Bonneville 2023?

  25. Thanks Jeff! How ya been?
No chicken wire.....I have a plan, using plywood strips and foam. Will see how it works out....
How thick is the foam? Glued down I assume?

I used 1/4 inch landau foam from an upholstery shop. I glued it to the masonite and sanded the edges to blend them out . I made a frame of 2x2 's and stapled my vinyl to it and stretch it out , then I glued the vinyl to the foam. I trimmed it and used hidem to finish the edge.
I finally got the coupe on the road a couple weeks ago...loud , uncomfortable , smelly and quick enough for me....I'm having fun!
    Cheers!

  27. Got my seats back from upholstery jail. Yes they are modern seats. No I don't care.

  30. I'm not a wood worker, I don't really have the correct tools or the patience for it.
The 1/4 inch ply doesn't bend 2 directions so I am cutting it into strips. It will get glued and sealed up with epoxy resin.
