I haven't done it with a '34 Ford but have used their side panels with original Model A' and a Deuce hood tops with no problems at all. HRP

I have used a complete 34 Ford hood from Rootlieb on a coupe build and it fit very well - don't know about mixing with the stock pieces. Here is the coupe with the Rootlieb hood. IMG_0214.JPG

  4. \'34 Ford pic #2.jpg I had a beautiful original Henry Ford hood on my '34 Coupe that was severely damaged in a freak accident at the NSRA Nats a few years ago (their Safety Inspection tent fell on my car). Unable to locate a suitable original replacement, I ordered the Rootlieb 4-piece hood with stock louvers, etc. To my surprise, the Rootlieb hood fits as good or better than the original! I'm very happy with the results! Here is a pic of the car with the new hood.

I have mixed them and they work fine. I had and original 33 top and wanted 33 sides with 34 handles….No problem. They fit fine but did not have the bead in the front like a 33.

Add 1 more who has mixed factory hood tops to new Rootlieb sides. They fit great!

  9. be careful on there shipping, they just charged my buddy over $340 to ship a pr. of 34 hood tops from Ca. to Pa. he called them about it and they said oh well that's what it cost. it was only shipped in a box not a create or anything fancy. cost him $800 all together. little pricey i think and i know they wont get anymore of his business. so just saying i would double check with them on that unless you are just picking it up.

I ordered a 28 A hood and splash aprons a few weeks back, delivered to NY, shipping was 110 or 120 for both items. Shipped fast too.

Possibly expedited freight caused the large freight cost?

I ordered a 1 piece hood for my '34 Roadster last week & Rootlieb is bringing it to L'ville - no shipping $$.

All I know about them is if you use one of their repair kits for a hood you have to use their hinge as well. Tim

I used a pair of Rootlieb 33 hood tops with some other company's aftermarket hood sides. All fit together fine but the el-cheapo hood sides still need trimming at the back where they overlap the cowl a little. It may be understandable as we welded in 34 chevy hood sides to the cheapie aftermarket ford hood sides and used 34 chevy latches.
