Just sharing: Resto-mod type project in process, hope to finish first phase in January. all new IFS with 9 inch rear end on a TCI frame. Body and interior work will be done winter of 2014. Body will be the same configuration and color. Engine is a 383 with a forged crank, 4 bolt mains, Brodix heads and roller cam. EFI system sits on top of a BDS 671 arrangement. A crank trigger ignition setup along with a shortened electric water pump allowed the engine to fit into the compartment. I did not want the electric fans to show through the grill so I mounted them in a pulling mode behind the radiator. Question: Does anybody know why Ford shifted to the slant back Vicky in the last half of 1934?
As I am told, they kept the 33 style until May/June of 34 and called it a 34. Interesting that they just built the new slant model for only 6 months for that model year.
The 1934 model year Fords were a running design changeover commencing Sept 18 1933 depending on the manufacturing plant, I seem to recall. If the change to the real 1934 Vicky was much later then that would have been because it was not ready. Starting in September 1933 most passenger body styles received the 1934 style grille and hood. The doors with sail panel and 'smokers window' were also introduced, although some carryover cars had the 1933 style doors fitted without the sail panels. Some even had mismatched doors with a 1934 style on one side and a 1933 on the other side. The cowl received a notch at the bottom of the sides to allow the rear hood handle to latch and the headlights on the 1934 were shortened by 7/8". There is no such thing as a 1933/34 passenger car headlight. They are either 1933 or they are 1934 headlights. There are several other differences but I am not a Ford guy and I am sure others more knowledgeable will note them. The September changeover accounts for why there re many more 1934 Fords as they were produced for twice as long as the true 1933 models.
