Loudpedal, I have never tried swapping the doors. Sounds like Blue 49 may be your man for that. I was wondering about body lines etc.

The overall dimensions for the 35 and the 36 are exactly the same. Both years used the same bed and the same frame. The only dimensional differences between 35 and 36 that we know of, covered in this thread, would be the thickness (depth) of the front grill. The hood sides of both trucks are different in design but dimensionally the same and interchangeable with one another.

 

Thanks Fella's for that info......do you know of any Specs / Measurements of the 35/36 bed so I can make one.

 

You should be able to "scale" it off the drawing roothawg gave you. Also you can get some measurements of the Mack hills website. Look the tailgate, bedsides, front, etc. And use there measurments to come up pretty close to what you need.

Make one out of cardboard first....see it you like it! The best part of building one is to build one that is in proportion and looks right for your truck....while still looking appearing to be original!

I am looking at replacing the firewall on my 36 ford pickup and came across a firewall for a 36 ford sedan. Does anyone know if the firewalls on the pickups and the sedans are interchangable?

Good information BUT to be correct for technical purposes Ford uses the term "Commercial" to include Pickups, Panels, Sedan Deliveries, Station Wagons, and flatbed vehicles 1/2 ton and under.
Those vehicles above 1/2 Ton in capacity are called in Fordspeak "Trucks".

 

What happened to those cab mount measurements?

Cab wood patterns are done, PM me if you want a set. I will try to post PDFs, but they will be hard to use. Best thing will be for me to mail full sized dimensioned drawings and you can use them for patterns.

 

Well, if your info is correct. My 35 panel has 36 doors. It's got the pull slots in the sills.

1930roadster- Just check Craigslist once a week. Actually use www.craiglook.com to search all the craiglists across the country. There are a lot of 35 and 36 p/u's for sale out there.

I posted this on the 35,36 truck flathead group page as well. I have a dilemna. Where the accelerator linkage comes through the firewall, there appears to have been a bracket holding it to the firewall. Mine is not like a typical 32 ford where the linkage bolts directly to the firewall. Does anyone have pics or know what this bracket is? Is it different from the 36 cars? Thanks, Casey

was there a deluxe model in 36 if so would it have had a banjo type steering wheel. because i was told this wheel was on this truck in 44 when it was baught http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/22524285

 

Root, I am building my first 37 Ford truck and am looking for a grill shell, now I feel a bit more comfortable.

The number of louvers on the 35 and 36 are different
The 36 had a stiffener bead around the louvers where 35 did not.
35 louvers had a dip in the center to accomodate the hood side emblem.

I don't think so. The 35 cab where the hood fits is different.

 

the length is different too...
but I don't remember the numbers right now.

Great thread. Actually I only have the '36 firewall, but I consider it a project..

 

But what about cutting & shaping the 37 Bonnet to suit the 35 Grille.

 

Thats def. an option I was considering. I was just hoping for an easy fit without the work! If I do it, I will post pics.

 

I am looking for parts for a 36 Ford Pick-up for a Buddy over in England. The bed is not that great we have been looking at Howells Sheetmetal co. They don't have a bed for a 36 but they do have them from 38 on. My ? is can he make a 38 bed fit on a 36 with out to much work. I am not sure if the wheel base is the same or not. If it will only hang over the back that would not be that bad.
