I have heard that a advance design pickup 47-55 will fit and bolt up to the 35 1/2 ton springs giving you juice brakes.Does anyone know if this is true? I can get a front axle for these trucks fairly easily if it indeed will work.

IDK, but a tape measure is your friend. spring c-c, bolt pattern on spring to axle mount, hub-to -hub distance

I believe that the AD axle is too wide both at the spring pads and wheel flanges. If you're running fenders the tires are possibly going to rub. I looked into this for my 36 and it was a no go. I used 69 chevt van spindles and drums on my original axle at the time and it worked out great. Mitch

Ive used a 58 axle on my 27 chevy and a 48 axle on my 37 chevy truck. So yes it should not be a problem.

Slow, search the threads, I seem to remember that someone on here drops chevy axles and their site has measurements of the different years if I'm not mistaken. Mitch.

I WAS WRONG!!!! The web site is DROPPEDAXLES.COM, It states that the spring center and width of the truck axles was the same all the way up to 55. All these years I was living in a false world of Chevy axle knowledge. Sorry guys. Mitch.
