    Congrat's on your new purchase!
If you want a great reference guide when building this car get this booklet, it comes in real handy and shows you everything you need to know about your '35.

That's also on the HAMB classified board... all that fresh primer scares me... so did that price... but thanks for the link..

  6. in reality it really isn't worth it , just like `32 ford projects for $30K..way too much in my opnion...but someone will pay it , so that sets the price. i think it's called supply and demand

That was a great deal. I have been watching 3 windows for many years. It's hard to find a complete car that is solid. I see a lot of shells for $8k and you end up spending as much again for the rest of it.

I too have been watching 3 windows for quite a while and think you did good for such a complete solid car. As Falconman said if you buy a body shell, you still need the rest of the parts. Decent trunk lids and door garnish moldings are getting VERY hard to come by.

I would also be leary of buying a car with "fresh" primer on it.

    Good Luck!

    Post progress photos.

You will NEVER regret buying it.

I have an axiom when people ask me about some of the thigs I bought.I tell em,I bought it because it was for sale.
Things like that aren't always available. You are in New England, not especially a "rust free zone .
By having a good boy and frame, you will save your self a lot of Rolaids moments.
    Good luck.

Congrats man! I think that's a very fair deal. Nothing like a real deal 3 window.

Here are a couple of more of it...

I mocked it up with the fenders hood and grill shell, but of course no batteries left in the camera...

If it is wrong to spam my own thread I will be selling my A coupe which I already listed in the classifieds... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294730

and my 36 Ford Chopped coupe, which I'll be putting in the classifieds within the next day or 2... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294730
    [IMG]

I'll miss them both because they were done as far as body work goes... but I need to get some space to work on the 3 window... Have to find a top loader for it... if anybody has a lead on one let me know. Thanks.

That X in the firewall sides of your chopped 5-window says it's a '36.

Let me give you the best piece of advice. I've built several cars, and found one common thing.Do yourself a favor and go out and by one that's done.
I know that means 25-35 grand. But, you'll find that when you add up how
much more money it took to build the car ON TOP of the original $15,000,
it will come out about the same or MORE than if you bought one.Do what
a couple of my friends( who were talented car builders) did. They took out
a personal loan from the bank, paid the owner, grabbed the keys and have
been spending the time driving the car instead of spending the time ( lost
years) in the garage, not to mention a ton of aggravation. They paid the
loan off eventually, AND the car is worth more now than when they bought it., A win -win situation.

The rear fenders are 35 .......

Who knows what has been mixed and matched with a 70 year old car.

Half the fun of owning them is building them. standing back and saying "I did that".

Congratulations. I'm hoping to have my '35 3-window done soon-- it's close. Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Last year I answered a local ad for a 36 Ford sedan and 37 Ford truck. Both were rough and I bought them for $450. The guy then showed me his "other" stuff. In the shop was a 36 3 window. It a was 100% complete with a few spots of grey primer over the original blue paint - a very very solid car with rebuilt flattie. I set a buddy of mine up with the car. Sale price was $20K.

    Dennis,

Buy one already done? Thanks but no thanks... I LOVE building cars... I wouldn't buy one done even if I could... this is what the hamb is...

i Rob from my Peter account to pay Paul just so I can squeeze my way out of legitimizing paying more dough than i have for a 70 year old body...

I live for the feel and that vibe of being emotionally and physically broken beyond belief... working to the point of bleeding then finally hearing the sound of an engine sputter to life and the roar like a lion... it practically brings me to tears of emotion when I finally hear the engine turn over on a completed project... I have let tons of cool cars go and have had the ones that got away... I love the rush of metal fab and I hate bondo... no way would I miss out on getting in on the dirty work...

I say this all now, but believe me if I post pics of this thing running, I am going to be super stoked... I wouldn't give up a short cut to the finish line for anything... especially another 10k and I don't mean 6.2 miles...

    HFL =hamber for life

I hope I can bring this thing to driver... My plan is to leave the body, slam in a windshield and side glass... put in a flatty, find a toploader... add some juice brakes, some new rubber and drive it until something else breaks... I can't wait to fire this thing up...

GREAT! Sounds like a good plan to me. I couldn't buy finished car and enjoy it even if I had the funds, spending all the time explaining about the former owner would get old real quick. Come to think of it what is the point of finishing one anyway, having it is the enjoyable part for me.
