In a couple posts lately I have seen brake backing plates being drilled full of a pile of holes for cooling.

I have a '35 with the original brakes that have been gone through and work great. I can lock up all four. So I'm going with what I have.

I have spacers on the hubs so I can mount regular 15" steel rims. This leaves the open spoked drums with about a 1" opening all around the outside edge between wheel and drum.

My thought was to make some sort of cover to seal off the openings in the drum. I figured driving in the rain might leave me with no brakes, but got to thinking (seeing all the holes being drilled) that maybe the opening won't hurt anything and only help cool the drums.

Any ones thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem in North Dakota... not enough traffic!

    I guess I wouldn't worry too much.

LOL on the ND traffic....thanks for the reply.

Good thought. I'll have to drive in the rain and check it out. Thanks.
