Projects 1935 Ford

I have a question concerning my 35 Ford. I'm wondering on what to do on my filler neck on my fuel tank. I bought a new fuel tank and a new filler tube, but the fuel tank looks like it is set up for a rubber hose. And the filler tube has a threaded collar on it. Is there something that goes between the two? I am lost on what to do or what goes where. Can you help me w/ this? Thank You!

for a stock 35-36 you have a rubber coupler from the tank to the filler tube, if you change the tube you still need the rubber coupler.
macs auto sells the coupler or you can get flexible rubber rated for fuel, do not use radiator hose... to join the two pieces.

Where is your filler tube going? Is it through the fender like stock, and or are you using a stock like tank?

 

It is going in the stock location, through the fender. Yes, the tank is a new stock tank. What is the threaded collar my filler neck has?

i thought it was a metal neck that screwed to the coupler.

 

On a new tank you need to use rubber connecting hose between the two. I believe the old tube won't scew in to the new tank like it did. I had to cut my filler neck off to get the tank put of my car so connecting it with hose is really the way to go.

 

on a stock `35-`36 Ford the tank has internal threads that the stock filler tube screws into. since you said your new tank uses a hose i ***ume it has a 2" diameter ****** sticking out. is your tank from TANKS?

on my `36 i used a TANKS tank and then modified an original filler. actually , the only part of it i used was the very top end that the cap screws onto. i cut it off and welded it to a 2" od mandrel bend 90 degree OD exhaust tubing. then connected that to the tank with a short piece of fuel proof hose as Dooley suggested
