I need some help. I am still working on my 1931 5 window Oldsmobile. However, this car became available. It is all original and drives. I can get it pretty cheap. I like it becasue I can put more then two people inside. Does anyone have any pics of their 1935 Plymouths?

How about turnuing it into a hotrod?

    Let me know.

I think if you have the means to buy and hold the unit you should...if you later decide not to build maybe make a buck or two on resale if your "deal" is really good. face it..this iron is not made anymore but also keep in mind that little aftermarket is "keyed" around this car..making it the better, more challenging build.

Agreed. BUILD that thing. those don't need much to make a nice looking family cruiser. Drop it on chryseler spokes and toss in a 360/727 combo. Using the standard mopar pass side offset they prety much drop in. I think Plydo even has motor mounts. Or if you a real man like bigaadams and I stuff in a Big Block. :)

Does anyone have any pics of a finished car? I would love to get some ideas from finished 35 Plymouths. I may pull the trigger this week. Any ideas of what a working and complete car is worth?

Buy that car, then buy a pinstripe suit, fedora, and drive that bitch around. That thing is sweet.

didn't those have the double hump front axle and hydraulic brakes?? seems to me that would make a cool quickie hot rod build. fix up the stock stuff that you can and insert bigger motor!

Should be able to find pictures at www.carnut.com look in the car picture index, under Plymouth, then 1935, then 4 door sedan. 35 and 36 Plymouths are about the same.
The flathead 6 was a good motor. With a few bassic hot rod mods, like split exhaust and two carbs, they ran pretty well. In stock form they would run down the highway at 60-65 all day if it had the od. I had an advertisment stating the top speed was something like 75mph in 35! The Chrysler corp cars were light years ahead of the GM and Ford products of the time. Gene

Wouldn't have to do much to make that a bad ass ride. I'd buy it if reasonable. Looks like it is complete right down to the wheels! I'd buy it and drive the crap out of it while smoking a big cigar.LOL

Take a look at the "Plymouth the First Decade" website. Some good info regarding 28 to 38 Plymouths. The trimed porthole trim on the hood indicates it is the upscale model. Humphry Bogart drove a 2 dr version as Sam Spade in several movies. See it it had the Bogart option, a flip down panel with two pistols that helped Boggie out of tight situations.

Plymouth went through a couple versions of front suspension 34 through 36, odly they went from a IFS set up back to a beam and leaf springs for 1 year and then went back to IFS.

Engine will be a 80 HP give or take 201cu in flat 6. If you can see cylinder castings on the drivers side of the block its an early engine. Some time in 35 36 they went to a fully jacketed casting. Those artillery wheels are definately keepers.

Here is some info from the All Par site. Model Designation is PJ. Lotsa pics on carnut.com

I helped my father in law rebuild a later dodge engine for his '35 plymouth 2dr. I's a nice original. It is a fun car to putt around in. They are a nice car. Hydraulic brakes, open drivline, straight axle up front, full pressure oiling. His is geared low. It will run down the road nice at 60 but any faster is pushing it. Looks like a nice car. Hood onament is snapped off. Hard to find peice..........

I had one way bak, an old geezers work car. He had parked it after retirement, and it was just sitting in his backyard. Was tite an solid car, motor was kind weak but it perked up after some miles on her. They have a strong frame and hydraulic brakes, make a good cruiser. I would do a slant 6 and a 5 speed and drive the hell out of it

Well not exactly, but here's my Buddy Matthole's 38.
It had been in a warehouse for 35 years, it's now a daily driver.

Get it if you can. It'll be easier to get rid of it than to find another one! I'd keep the 6. Eddy Edmunds made heads and multiple carb manifolds for Mopars. There is a lot of engine build info at inliners.org.

  27. Suicide rear doors make it a push, as in cards.

A slant 6 would be the Shiite.
