Very nice job, I did mine the same way-wish I knew you were looking for a Cowl, I have a '36 Coupe Cowl and Doors, and some pieces left from my Chop you probably could have used-I'm close to you-

  3. Any sign of stress cracks at the top of the quarters, below the bead at the base of the top, on any of these 3-windows?

I wanted to get this up so you guys could see the rear window tacked in place. Now you can see what I am saying when I said that I love how it looks when the rear of the window just flow's into that rear bead.

Plus measuring it I only took 2 1/4" out of the rear window insted of the full 3"

Doing your rear window like that does it effect the roll up mechanism , some, none, dunno? Thanks, Lon

    Falconman,
Maybe you could take another "class" at Tinmans like you did when you filled the roof.....

For posting this build this is what I am about to start to do with a 5 window that I have been working on. This pics are really going to help in cutting mine up. Please keep us posted on this build. Between you Time Bomb John and Crisp you have all done 3 windows that are really cool looking and I have been studying all of your builds.

Your work is really good and you are FAST, very impressive!

Brigrat, here is a shot of my rear window.

My car was chopped 2 1/2" instead of 3".

I did NOT change the bottom section of the rear window.

I do not believe that changing the bottom section of the rear window will effect the performance of the roll down window mechanism.

I did not notice any stress cracks near the top of the quarters in my car.

Good Luck with ALL the projects!

The owner didn't want the rear window to roll down so I removed that section. Plus it was realy rotted out anyway. The one thing you would have to change would be relocating the brace that holds the trunk hinges. That piece is attatched to the part under the window as well as in front of the rain gutter.

The car looks great. How much room is in the car once it was chopped? Can you take some interior shots...i was curious to know how tight a 36 becomes with some out of the top.

I worked today on geting the rest of the welding done on the top.

I also started chopping the doors, and geting the 3 window door tops spliced onto the sedan doors.

Really nice work, are the sedan doors the same length as 3Window doors?

Ya tudor sedan doors are the same length as 3 window doors. Also 4 door's have the same length doors as a 5 window.

  26. Can you show more shots of the doors and how you chopped them.

I should have taken more shots durring the process, but if you look close at this picture, you can see the different sections that I spliced together.

First of what I did is I cut off the back of the 3 window door from below the second beadroll up to the top. (I did this because the 3 window door starts to curve right at the second bead roll).

Then I got that fitting with the door shut the way I wanted it. I had to take a slice and close the gap on this piece because the door gap was too tight.

Next I got the other section of the rear 3 window door top cut to fit and just tacket it in one spot with the door gap the way I wanted. (That way I could move it around to line up with the front door top).

Then insted of using the rest of the door top from the 3 window door I used the front door top section off of the sedan door. I did that because I could get that fitting the rest of the way without having to add a piece like you usually do when you only have one door to chop.

Then once all that fit it just takes some time making sure all the outside and the inside seams line up.

Hi, First of all Great thread !!! Also I had a couple of questions.
Did you not feel there was any need for bracing in the body? Usually on the earlier Fords they are braced before chopping.
And, secondly what type of lift is that you are using? It looks slick.
    Keep up the good work!!!

  30. To each his own and I'm not trying to start anything but want to know why you are filling the roof ? My position has always been: "never do anything to a steel car to make it look like a fiberglass one".

    Johnnie.
