A local hot rodder asked us to chop his 36 5 window, I just wanted to share the chop with you all.
Josh Allison is preforming the chop on this coupe.

not sure what to do if the photos don't show up it is working on my end.
Some close up shot still working on getting it laid down and all the gaps correct a lot of tack welds and fitting but the seams are coming together nicely, Josh is doing a great job on this one.

I think chopped by half that amount would've been nicer

A lot of work going on with that chop. Should be stunning when finished.

That's a hefty chop, looks good. What else is being done on the car?

I will load up some more progress photos in the morning. There was some hidden damage on the p***enger side quarter window area, itctook Josh. A little bit to get worked out, moving on to the rear window tomorrow, it's looking like we are going to widen the rear window as well tp get everything lined up.

Not sure what the owners final plan is for the coupe, he stopped in the shop and saw the Ed Pink coupe and wanted his cut similar to that.

I think regardless of the owner's intentions, or the outcome.....that you guys do fantastic work. It will look good no matter someone's opinions. Wish I had your talents. Chop on, my friends.

Not to be critical (but I guess I am), but dontcha think the quarter window looks a little square at the 2 o'clock position?

Josh made great headway on the car this week, all the panels are back on the car and in place. the rain gutter over the quarter windows is going to get remade or reworked We are just not happy with the flow of that line. the rear window should be able to work out fairly nice with a egg dollie and a some well placed hammer blows. the rest of the seams need a little attention before we can fully weld them in place.
We were getting tired of seeing the car sitting so high so right now there is just the main leaf in the both spring packs. After chopping this car it would be great to have a free rain on a 36 5 window and do a little more reworking of the 1/4 windows peak the fenders just go all out on one of these would be a killer project.
Here is Josh's photos, we will push the car out side and let all the guys in the shop look it over before we make the final call, sometimes when your working up close on a project it is hard to spot the overall shape or the look you were going for. the original 4-9-26-2014 005.jpg 5-9-26-2014 004.jpg 6-9-26-2014 003.jpg 7-9-26-2014 002.jpg 2-9-26-2014 001.jpg 3-9-26-2014 006.jpg plan was to leave the stock roof opening but now i am leaning to filling it in.

I agree with you on that we are going to rework the rain gutter a bit, an I would love to pull that quarter window out and completely rework the flow of it into the lower belt line, but trying to keep the budget in mind it might stay like it is. After doing this car it would be great to have one of these and just have a full on build and get carried away with the metal work.

Does anyone know what roof would work to fill a 36? I know i can get an insert from walden, or we can wheel one out just thinking time wise if i could find a insert that would put us ahead a bit.

perfect proportions. I don't usually like the 5 windows chopped because most don't get the proportions correct. this is spot on. very nice work.
