Has anyone installed one of the "Bear Claw" style door latches on a 1935-36 Ford Pickup?

Actually, I haven’t. Seems to me what Henry put in there works well as long as the springs are all good. Doors on my Avatar truck and project (both ‘35s) seem to function well. The latching mechanisms stick out best part of an inch and makes a good connection with their intended mates.

Now a Model A, very different and seems to me less “reliable” and would benefit from bear claws.

I haven't. I have researched it, but my Henry latches are hard to beat. What are you having issues with?

I did install bearclaws on my 35 PU and have stock insde and outsie handles and added keyed door lock to drivers door also . Took about a month of making new pull rods to get it to work correctly. Too much trouble but everything works fine.

Thanks for the reply. What brand did you use? Which size..regular, small or "mini/micro"? How much cutting did you need to do? Did you use the "mounting hardware plates" or just the latches? If you did use the "plates", did you bolt or weld them on? Did you also add a keyed handle to the passenger side or use a "locking bearclaw latch" with the original handle? Any pictures of them installed? Thanks, in advance!
