I purchased this 36 coupe over the weekend. Paid more than I wanted to for a project but they don't come up too often around SC. It's in really good shape. Sitting on a very well built custom frame, Fatman front end, tubular a-arms, disc brake, rack and pinion steering. 9 inch leaf spring rear end. New gas tank. SBC 350 and 350 turbo trans.. I know nothing at all about either besides it cranks and got me off the trailer and in the shop. Aluminum radiator, new wiring harness not installed, new gl***, new weather stripping. Rumble seat is very nice. Fibergl*** running boards. The rest of the body is all steel and in fabulous shape. No rust that I've found. Grill is decent. Most of the body work has been done. It needs a complete interior kit.
@clips221 Hello, Your 1936 coupe had some great bones, but those wheels make it look a little “clownish.” (remember those clowns in a circus with extra large shoes…etc) Obviously, not HAMB appropriate, but once gone, the 36 does need some simple but good looking style. The above wheel tire combo fits nicely and would make your 36 look good. Rim color is your choice, but since your car has a white/yellow combination, the similar color rims may give it some good contrast. One choice would be simple black with beauty trim rings and a smooth small center hubcap. Simple, looks good and costs would be minimal. Here is a So Cal version that would fit in any category as a mild custom, hot rod or cruiser. Jnaki The blue color goes well with the local ocean background/play area for this old hot rod. Leave it the color your 36 has, get it running and take off those “clown shoes.” YRMV
Wheels are an eyesore for sure, but I can only wish mine was as solid as yours appears to be. Good luck.
