I've got a 36 Ford 3 window coupe that I'm in the process of putting back together. I'm running a pepped up 350 sbc and 700R4 tranny. The radiator that was in the vehicle is the wrong radiator meaning it doesn't have the place on top to connect the adjusting rods or hood mounting bracket. Who makes a good radiator for a 36 Ford Coupe with SBC/700r4 tranny that won't break the bank? thanks for any help.

  2. Hope you set the engine in with a radiator so you have room. I did a 36 and didn’t cut the firewall. Had only room for the motor an none for a fan. Had to run a pair of pushers. Didn’t like the out come. It ran cool. But I wasn’t proud of it

  3. A "good" radiator and "won't break the bank" will be tough. A quick search yielded a few offshore made aluminum ones at less than $200.00. Has the bracket at the top and made for SBC/automatic. Quality made radiators made by US Radiator, Griffin, or the like will cost $1000.00 or more. Wizard cooling about $850.00

I second this, I have one set up exactly as described here. It works, but I don't like it either....

As for a radiator, mine has an older Walker in it but I have also recently had good luck with US Radiator. I don't think there is such a thing as a real cheap one though.

  5. If your current radiator fits and is in good condition, why not buy the needed support and hood brackets and get your radiator shop to soldier them on the tank?

^^^^^^^^ I had a local Radiator shop re core my original '40 radiator for my '41 pickup ( with FH) and that was around $600. My '40 with SBC has a Custom Auto Radiator with a 13# cap and coolant recovery tank. Original radiators aren't made for pressure ( more than a couple of pounds)
