I’m not sure what I’ll do next on this but I’d love to get the doors to shut and the windows to go up and down. Currently the doors are completely gutted. there are two easy jobs I could do and i’ll probably do those soon. First I’ll line my glovebox with some black carpeting that should make it nicer/ less bland and will cover up the ugly door. I also need to make a small panel for the wall that goes in front of the Dashboard. I made the panels today but above them there is still some of the cab that is visible and needs covered. I’m also debating ordering an electric window kit. I saw someone install it into a Volkswagen Beetle and I loved it. Essentially it makes the window crank knob a switch, doesn’t change the visible appearance of the vehicle which is important to me.
Rear window is installed. Very simple process: install rubber seal around window, cut fabric smaller than window, insert window and trim, insert molding and let the molding sandwich the fabric, install the 6 screws that hold the trim in.
Got a little done today. -checked the horn I bought and it works fine -wired up the horn (it just needs soldered in) -put the front light wiring in heat shrink -hooked up the fuse board, it works great -wired up original ignition switch -hid all wiring behind the left lower interior panel
Also I purchased a new project car this past weekend if you guys would like to see that project I will have a link soon in this thread. I purchased a 1940 Huppmobile Skylark. The car has unique history and potential that I will share about in its own thread. It’s 1 of 50-60 still rumored to exist.
Also wanted to note that I have all the mechanical window mechanisms installed and operational. New windows should be coming soon as they are in order. I’ll try and get some photos of the window mechanics because I had to modify a track to work better. I also replaced a spring. Next I’ll get the door latch mechanism to operate well. That way I can put the inner door skins on and have the doors shut. Having the doors shut and seal completely is a huge goal of mine currently. It seems simple but there is a lot that goes into it.
After graduating this fall I realized I never kept y’all updated on this build. If anyone still follows and is interested I’d be willing to post more of what I’ve done. I took this Truck to Kansas and mechanically was able to dial in much of my diagnostic issues and took it on a few rallies and drives. I’ve done a lot of other things such as final****embly, fabricated custom removable blinkers, made a custom rear fender, removed springs, custom exhaust system, pulled the oil pan to reveal a surprise, and much more. My metal skills are my strong suit these days despite the atrocities I let slide at the beginning of this project. This upcoming week I’ll work full time as a metal shaper in the Indianapolis area doing metal work on coach built type cars in aluminum.
Yes keep posting some pics! Looks like you did a dang fine job on her. Also what happened to the Hup Mobile? Mike
