I'm not having to shim the fender supports on my '36. I agree, something si wrong. You sure you have all '36 parts and not a mix of '35 & '36 ?

...Is there a difference in the '35 and '36 head light support?

Reason I'm asking, I bought a '36 with fibergl*** front fenders and I also need to move my fenders up (only in the front). I really hadn't checked into it as I ***umed it might just be the fenders...

There's differences in the headlight supports and the headlight bases. I'll look for a pic of the '35 & '36 headlight supports side by side, so you can see the difference between them.

You hadn't mentioned f'gl*** fenders, but I'd certainly suspect them as being at least part of the problem.

Read the article, a lot of differences between 35 and 36 that most don’t know.
funny it was Macs. I’ve run into the same thing with them on other parts.

Glad to help when & where I can. If you need any additional info, I've got a fairly good "library" of info gleaned from various sources that I'll be happy to share.

I measured and looked at my supports and they are 36 supports, iread some pages about 36 front sheet metal install and they seem to think shimming the supports needs to happen, thats what put me on to trying to shim them ,is there somthing that goes between the headlight fender support and the fender

I had no shim on mine, nor was one needed for the sheet metal to fit nicely. It wouldn't suprise me that shims might be needed in ***embly occ***ionaly.

If a shim had to be used, it would most certainly go between the support & fender, IMO.

I have no idea if you have the skills to build a header panel. Loys of work involved. I believe the '35 & '36 header panels might interchange, but they are not exactly the same. If I were you, I'd watch the cl***ified HAMB & Ford Barn ads, as well as ebay. The come up for sale occ***ionally and are usually in the $100-$150 price range.

I'll take a pic of mine for you and post it later

Here's a pic of the header panel in my '36. It's about 42" long and about 7½" overall width.

35 vs 36 header panels are different. The width on the 35 is less.
I have a 36 header and in order to fit it in my 35 I’m going to have to cut it down.
It’s the mounting strips and where it attaches that are different.
Of course my 35 is an early one, December 34, and it also has the forward inner door handles.
