Anyone with a 35-40 ford, run the full legnth headrs for sbc ina 35-48 ford? How do they fit? I have my motor out and was thinking about them...right now I have 2 inch rams horns to 2 inch exhuast, or I would go to the 2.5 inch rams horns... but going from th 2.5 in to the 2 inch exhaust seems counter productive, however with the longer headers I could stage the exhaust down back to my 2 inch pipes... or should I leave it alone?
Ok, that was poorly worded...I was itred last night I have a 350 chevy in my 36 Ford. I have 2 inch rams horns going into 2 inch pipes, ( I bought them pre bent from Wedter), then they connect to the rest of the exhuast which is 2 inches all they way back. I could upgrade to the 2.5 rams horns but going from the 2.5 inch collector to the 2 inch pipe seems pointless, and I do not want to re pipe from the manifold back. But a set of headers like these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PTE-H8018/?rtype=10 seem like they would be cool and add some HP, and since they run past where the rams horn goes all I would need is to go from the collector back to the rest of the 2 inch exhaust, about 2 feet worth. so my question is, has anyone run these? Are they worth it over what I have?
as you know , it's a tight fit on the exhaust around the engine compartment and through the frame. i think those headers would hang down low and you would probably have to go under the crossmember. does it have split bones? that would get in the way too. just thinking out loud.
you would probably still have to run the exhaust below the bones , might get a bit low maybe Patriot could give you the dimensions and you could do a little measuring
yea, I'll have to call, I was just wondering what gains if any could be made by adding these over what I have now
I have the Patriot H8039-1 in my 37 with a 327/T350. The H8039 is the 1 5/8" primary version of the H8018 (which is 1 1/2") I had stock ram horns with 2" exhaust and now have 2 1/2" exhaust. The car picked up 15% in horsepower as measured at the rear wheels. They hang about 1 1/2" or so below the trans pan.
