I doubt their day is as bad as yours. They are probably looking up at the roots of the gr*** above. Welcome to the misery of a mechanic and having to deal with the "Engineering Department" or the "Accountant". They both are notorious about thinking up a better way to do something or spending a $1M to save a penny.
Been traveling a bit for work but got back on Tuesday. Finally finished the axle install… just gotta do some minor adjustments to tie rod and steering, but I’m digging the stance!
Alright… new development with my cursed truck. I got a new starter solenoid but i think i really just needed to charge the battery i haven’t been able to drive it so battery is low. I tested it at autozone. It idles really high. But the kicker is that is spitting oil through the exhaust! It never did that. I don’t really know what else to look at. Here’s a couple pics. It smokes a lot cause of the oil but its so much that it actually pools. Any ideas what to look at? Only changes i made was the unilite mallory distributor and the dual carbs. Still not able to run it successfully. I pulled the plugs and most of them have oil. So i figure rings are **** now. Maybe valves?
Making small progress where I can. New canister installed. Made new tubes for it and added the electrical oil sensor pressure. I took oil out and was full of gasoline. Doing a new oil change. Took off oil pan to clean and paint. Im gonna inspect my bearings while i have that off. My theory is my carbs had the wrong power valves. YyI ordered 2 3.5 PVs. That should help not fill the engine with gas. I have a new offenhauser fuel pump so doubt thats the issue.
Many have mentioned the need to use certain power valves, and or how they need to be checked. Maybe make a new and separate topic to get more eyes on your fuel in the oil issue.
