At least I think its a '36? Maybe '35. Can anyone ID for sure if its a 35 or 36?\
    Just LOVE these years trucks.

Still has stock flathead engine but has not been run in a while. Owned by a 80yr old guy. How difficult will it be to get parts like the hood sides which are missing? Plan would be to return it to its glory as when a new wrecker, a HUGE undertaking I know but not every day you see one restored.

Anyone know what stock tire size is? Any other hints or tips would be appreciated.

If I purchase it plan on starting a build thread.

Maybe a silly question but what is approx value?

  2. I like it very much and it'll be worth it to get it on the road the way it is.

Of course top speed will be 49 mph!

I was wondering about that because of the way they meet the cab. Any idea what the fenders are?

I love it just the way it is !
Let us know if you are lucky and the old man sells it to you . Have him give you a price if possible . If not don't try to low ball him and piss him off ! If you have to make an offer , make one close to what you think it's worth and then go from there ! Also make sure it has a good , clean ***le !

Not sure on the fenders, they look to be older than 35 to me. I don't think hood sides would be to difficult. I have parts of a 35 pickup that I plan to build into a bobber style this winter. I don't have enough of the truck to do much else with it but I do have decent hood sides I don't plan on using. If you can't find any closer to home pm me, I could be persuaded to sell them. Good luck with the build, a stock Wrecker would be cool to see.

Supposed to have good ***le. Waiting for him to give me a price, trying to learn more about it before I tell him what I will give. I would get it driveable first. It would be cool to hop up that flattie and leave it in. That would depend on its condition. Have not found out if the engine will turn yet.

If I end up getting the wrecker for sure will be on the hunt for parts. Already have 5 trucks so its not that I need another! But this truck has me pretty much hooked. Been looking for something like this for years. If I have to sell another old truck to get this I will.

Love em' both! I thought I had a bad case of 36 Truck brain warp BEFORE you posted those pics... I had seen a pic of the Red wrecker some time ago but did not have any luck in my search. Both are close to what I had envisioned.

I'd be careful about that black swarm flying above it. Doesn't appear to be too friendly or healthy whatever it is.

I purchaced just a boom similar to this one for $130 this summer.

Parts of it were rotted and had to be replaced but I would have paid up to $250 or so for it if I had to.

I thought it was something with the camera until I reviewed pics just prior and just after and no black spots/cloud??? Not sure what it was.

Waiting to hear back to see if this purchase will happen or not. Sure hope so!

Only rust spot found was in lower corner of drivers door.

If these are 32' Fenders are they approx value of the 36's? Will figure out exactly what to do with it if I can close the deal.

Very cool. Like it with the side panels missing. So many options. Keep us informed.

  19. The grill shell is '36 for sure, but so much part swapping has been done on that truck that the serial number on the frame is the only indicator I'd trust for the model year. There are some very subtle differences between '35 and '36 cabs--along with some of Fords famous running changes that didn't coincide with a model year change. For instance, early '35 doors had removable garnish moldings, late '35 through '37 doors do not. Lawson Cox, who is a regular over on FordBarn, can talk to you all day about the differences on '35-'37 Ford trucks.

Looked at truck today a bit closer.

'36 Grille, '35 Cab and appears to be a 1934 Frame and fenders. Per the 80yr old owner the truck is ***led as a 1935. He thought it was all 1935. Engine is most likely a 1934. Maybe from these pics someone can help determine year of more parts. 10k asking pretty much puts me out of the picture. Still trying to find more info before making a real serious offer.

Engine was last run 3yrs ago. Now the RATS have taken over and have had a chewing feast. Unable to get the Rat nest interior pic off camera. Basic complete pile of parts thats restorable but think with all the parts etc needed 10k is way out there.

40mph with the sides on before it gets hot. 49 after:)

I'm thinking 6,00x20 would have been orig. But later on when they were hard to get 7's or 7.50X20 would be used.

That's a lot of money, but it's drivable the way it is, once you get it going. Beats getting a rust bucket and spending half your life fixing rust and buying all the stuff that would be missing from a basket case.

It was a work truck, so it evolved over the years, bolting on whatever could be found cheap to keep it working. Very cool survivor truck.

    You need this truck.

    You dessert rats ****:)
