Thanks guys I appreciate the kudos. We just do our thing here in the shop which at the time is custom & restoration metal work, I don't have a booth or we would paint also did for 30 years some of the top cars in the north west. I lost my old shop with a booth in a divorce 12 years ago & had to start all over equipment wise. Now I am fairly well equipped & just trying to get the word out high quality metal work at a reasonable labor rate. The booth will come eventually.

Looks very good. I have been playing around with metal for a few years now and I always love looking at pictures of how other people work there magic. I'm sure the bottom looks as good as the top side. How many peace's will it end up being?

I will post pictures of the bottom & yes it looks the same as the top. the top will be covered with carpet & the bottom will be painted so it will show. When finished the main body is 4 pieces & the at present clamped on top is 1. I will rosset weld the top on for strength, then spot weld for factory appearance.

If the quote from DW about want to build a car but cant build a sentence is aimed at me. I do not need that & figure if you don't like my work then don't read about it.

Hey Frank !,... After seeing this,.. I was thinking of having a big bonfire and throwing all my sheet metal tools in it,... Then burying whats left when they cool down,.... Want to join me ?

Please don't let that offend you,.. And I know it wasn't aimed at you, it's just his signature,... it's on every post he makes. Your talent is fantastic !
My "Holy Smokes! I'm Impressed!!!" Meter is pegged !

Harms Way thanks I am just old (63+)& cranky enough that I do not feel like putting up with the BS. I am very passionate about the quality of the work we do in my shop & some of the stuff I see here is scary at best. I post the work we do hoping guys will strive to improve what they do & learn from my experiance. I started doing sheet metal work in 1961 when I bought my first car A 51 ford Victoria still love the 51 Vicky's, I have had 2 & want another some day.
In my shop we are not always able to do quite as high a quality work as I like do to customer budget restraints but our minimum standard is top quality. Yes our projects will need some filler but not boat loads like some of the stuff I see on here.
You don't have to have all the big dog tools to do high quality work, but you do have to have patience & desire to build a top quality project. Skill builds over time & proper guidance will accelerate the skill level faster. I have had about 180 people go thru my classes over the past 8 years from 1 day basic to 12 month apprenticeship. I plan on doing this till I physically cant or they plant me. I enjoy what I do every day I feel like a old kid playing with great toys every day. Yes my shop is quite well equipped & a mess but that is what I spend my dollars on tools, equipment & cars. Never smoked & don't drink (dry 22 years) just those two have made my tool & equipment addiction easer. I will get off of my soap box & head for the big play pen across the yard & play with my toys.
Thank god for spell ck more on here should learn to use it & if some one dose not like my sentence structure tuff at least I reread edit & try to make sense before posting, more to come.

I'm just a little behind you in the age department, And I get a little cranky to sometimes:cool:. Although I can do some metal finish work,... I am nowhere near the skill level you are,.. And I, as well as a number of others on this forum,.. truly appreciate it, greatly admire it,.. and can learn tremendously by it.

I never got the "artisans knack" for the skill level you perform at, But I learned what I know, from a few really top notch "Tin Knockers" in my youth. There are a number of us anxious to see the progress on this 36 Roadster project.

Please keep up the awesome work,... And keep the updates coming ! :)

if you read back at my posts on your thread, i've had nothing but good to say about your work... the quote has nothing to do with you, sir. click the little blue arrow in the quote container, and it'll take you to the original statement by DW in its original context. i simply have it as my signature line because i thought it funny. however, you make a valid point, it shouldnt BE my signature.

FiddyFour I was not pointing at you I just feel people need to have more respect of others instead of just talking garbage trash. So lets end this here & go back to what this thread is about & keep it flowing in that direction thanks.

I will put a little time in Monday while the other half is at the doctors then off for the rest of the day. My days off are Sunday & Monday as that is the bosses day off, so more to come. Goodguys Puyallup is coming so I need to try & get some time in on fabricating the rear panels.

  22. Looks like you're finally able to "shift gears", Danny. Coming along nicely. What's your
    Goodguys goal?

If you have the time and inclination to massage a couple more '36 fenders later on, let
    me know!

Hi car builder. You don't happen to make or willing to make model A patch panels? The reason I ask is that the model A hobby is having a hard time finding patch panels with the proper crown and reveals, fit ect. and with the quality you show here I am guessing yours would be correct. thanks for your time

Modelaman I would gladly make Model A panels but I need something that is real accurate to use for a pattern. It is just like my 35/36 panels I have gathered several nice original pieces to use for patterns. So what do you have & need made.

  26. Amazing work! I have been in the aerospace business for the last 30 years, and high quality metal work like yours still gets me excited. I've been through a few Covell classes, and if I wasn't so far away, I'd love to go to one of your classes. Metal is a great medium to work with, and seeing a true craftsman at work is awe-inspiring to me.

It looks like you're a busy guy, but please post more progress pictures whenever you get spare time.

36 Rokit any time you want to bring the fenders up just call & set up a time.

On Goodguys I will just get done what ever is possible between now & then the body will be in my booth at what ever stage it is at then & as long as I can dig up the funds to have one again. Business has been real slow the last year, finances are tight & Goodguys ain't cheap.

  28. Dan was gracious enough to give my dad and I a shop tour a couple years ago. I'm sure we wasted a good portion of his afternoon with our questions, impressive demonstrations on a couple unique machines and drooled over the projects in the works.

Dedicated to his Craft is a phrase that comes to mind

    Thanks again
