Koolkemp, after you click on a picture and it opens click on the bigger version. It should now open in its own window. Use the zoom down in the right lower corner (my broweser), and you can go up to 400%:D. Great detail:D:D.

We defanately do not want a cookie cutter custom we are trying to do something that will make a statment & make people stand back & look. The owner is building a custom chassis to go along with the project so stay tuned.

Tomorrow Max will be back on the PU bed sides for a couple of days & yes there is more to come as long as the interest is there.

My air compressor took a crapola late yesterday so we did some scrambling to get back in operation. No air but lots of electric tools now.
Max is finishing up the pu box panels.

Well max is back on the 57 for a few days to keep the project & schedule flowing along. He finished up the right front roof corner its lightly tacked in now.
    DSCN8482.JPG
    DSCN8489.JPG
    DSCN8490.JPG
Next he trimmed the rear fiberglass window pattern to size. so we can ck the flow of the lines we like the look & so dose the owner.
    DSCN8492.JPG
    DSCN8493.JPG

Its been a ton of hrs to get it to this stage but we are trying to build a out of the box custom & make a statement about lines & panels flowing together. Not some just thrown together hodge podge of parts.

Next the factory lead seams were melted out as we are making new rear window to trunk & quarter filler panels.

Things are starting to look like something & more to come.

So true. My father has had a few 32's and they are cool, but 36 Fords have a character unto themselves.

The rear trunk to rear glass filler needs to be replace.
    DSCN8521.JPG
The new filler panel is a re pop 57 Chev convertible it is wider then a sedan panel.
    DSCN8522.JPG
    DSCN8524.JPG
An extension had to be made to fill the extra needed. yes we could of made the whole panel from scratch but the tooling to make the gutter area would of cost more then the panel & adding the filler.
    DSCN8525.JPG
    DSCN8530.JPG
    Tack welded together.
    DSCN8534.JPG
    Checking for fit.
    DSCN8539.JPG
    Fully welded.
    DSCN8543.JPG
Checking for fit with the rear window template.
    DSCN8545.JPG
    DSCN8547.JPG
Once all the old gutter is removed the trunk lines will be correct.
    More come soon.

Rik thanks we are still playing with ideas for the front bumper / grill plus the rear end. We also have few other suttle custom ideas for the body. The owner is working on the modifyed custom chassis.

    DSCN8549.JPG
    New panel made before welding.
    DSCN8550.JPG
    One side welded & ground.
    DSCN8551.JPG
Both sides fit in place with a factory type seam.
    DSCN8556.JPG

Rear shot things are starting to flow well.

Its time to start the front of the rear glass area max marked the first cut line. DSCN8575.JPG
Then cut it off & to the left is part of the lower window chanel section.
    DSCN8581.JPG
The rear piece needs a little attention.
    DSCN8578.JPG
    DSCN8580.JPG
We could use it for a down force racing spoiler.
    DSCN8583.JPG
    DSCN8584.JPG
Nah it will be fit to its new location.
    DSCN8586.JPG
    More will come.

Max finished welding the rear extension then turned a slight roll edge so the rear panel & glass lines will flow better, its about paying attention to the details to make all the major changes work.
    DSCN8611.JPG
    DSCN8614.JPG
He then had to fab a lower lip to hold every thing in place.
    DSCN8626.JPG
    DSCN8627.JPG
    A check with the glass.
    DSCN8628.JPG
    DSCN8630.JPG
    DSCN8632.JPG
The upper section has to be shortened to fit the glass & roof.
    DSCN8683.JPG
    Cut & welded.
    DSCN8690.JPG
Thats it for today, we are starting on another project 67 Dodge muscle car along with our 2 day a week schedule on the Pontiac so I can add that to the mix or not it's just lots of panel replacement work so speak up I realize its not H.A.M.B friendly but it is quality sheet metal work.

    So impressive!
Will the rear glass roll into the body slightly, or will you cut the corners down?

James D the glass is tempered so we can't cut it, a small corner will disappear down into the body chanel. The custom made stainless trim will finish it off & we have a few other tricks up our sleeve on the roof to come.

I know this is not a H.A.M.B. friendly car but it needs some help & showing what we do gives others an idea how we do a quality job & to us sheet metal is sheet metal our cut off is about 1976. I would love to just work on 20's thru 50's but in today's economy we have to be a little more open to keep working so we are able to afford our own projects. If Ryan doesn't want this one posted all he has to do is pm me. This is a 68 Coronet & this is the way it came in.

We just did the final strip down getting ready for the blast shop, removed the doors & then removed the beat up & rusted thru skins on both doors.
    DSCN8693.JPG
    DSCN8694.JPG
We have left the outer skin top's on till the new ones get here to make sure we do not cut to much off, More tomorrow.
