1937 Chevy coupe windows

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dogger, Dec 5, 2010.

  1. I am building a '37 Chevy coupe and want to remove the door vent windows and install 1 piece glass.

I have been told that due to the geometry changing on the glass that I cannot keep the factory window crank mech because it will cause the glass to get into a bind when going up/down.

    Is this true?

If so what have others done to stay away from elect windows ?

I saw in the April 2010 Rod & Custom,"Hemrod" has what is described as "sliders" to raise and lower the door glass....probably has 3/4 settings that the glass can be lowered to.....is this a kit or do I need to pull out the erector set ?

    Thanks HAMB'ers !!!

  2. the biggest problem is the the vent frame, it on a different angle than the door glass. if the car isn't painted it's an easy fix. put a straight edge on your door glass to the front of the door you'll get an idea of what your up against.
