Need a little help figuring out what an untouched 37 5 window coupe is worth? This is a garage find second owner no rust interior has one tear in the seat, even the gl*** though delaminating it is original Ford marked. Has V8-60 turns free should start and also comes with some NOS wiring and a crate V8-60 Has been parked in a garage since the late 70's. What is it worth? I have a shot at it but if I can't pull it off I am going to have the guy list it here on the hamb! Sent from my SM-G930V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
being in California will raise the value - hard to find something to compare to but, check out craigslist>sacramento>for sale>cars & trucks - by owner - 1937 Ford 5 Window Coupe All Original - $13495 -
Comes with a "crate" (as in factory rebuilt) V8-60? I was bidding on a "tin-side" in a local auction a year or so ago and dropped out when the bidding got to $200. It sold for a little over $800 And that was for a crusty engine that wouldn't even turn over. The engine itself has got to be worth 3 to 4 grand.
Yes it is a factory crate engine. Also has NOS Ford wiring. It has proven to be they are still out there. Sent from my SM-G930V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
10-15 at most. I wouldn’t go much over 10. Consider the cost of getting it painted and redone. If that cost plus the cost your paying is over something you can buy complete and original, walk away. Nice car by the way.
Petejoe also makes another good point. If you can find a car that sparks your interest and its the right color and model buy it. Don't be the guy that dumps heaps of time and money into a project that you don't enjoy. Drive it everywhere. I can say from personal experience the cars I enjoyed the most were not so nice that I had to worry about dings, theft or angry birds....
I know where there’s one that runs well, steel is in good shape nice patina and new interior. Guy wants 20k... it’s still sitting. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Definately a cool car. I think $20k may be the seller's optimistic initial asking price. If you actually have that kind of bread, this one is in your area, has had a lot of love, but not a barn find. In my area, which is typically priced really high, there are two similar cars in a similar price range that I've been watching on CL that have both been sitting all summer, so I'm guessing they could be talked down a few thousand $ . Both very interesting. Even mid to late 30's ford Coupes here that are complete piles, no where near in as good as condition or complete as the one you posted, are at least $10k + , so 'm thinking that your neighbor isn't too far off. From the looks of this car's garage-mate, the seller knows what's up, he's no rookie. I couldn't come up with $20k if you were squeezing my head in an old wood vice like Joe Pesci was in "Casino", so I would offer to mow his lawn and clean his gutters for the next 30 years, that would be my optimistic initial offer. You might want to take the education route. Here are similar cars for sale on the market. Let's say ( using examples and NADA car value range ) this car was a 10/10. What would it be worth? 30K? Now lets get this car there. Time has value. Wiring, gauges and signals 12 hours at $120 = $2400 Drivetrain Work 40 hours at $120 = $4800 Interior and Upholstery = $3500 Paint and Body = $10000 Tires and Powder coating = $1500 $30K - less $22,200 improvements to get to 10/10 shape. $7800. And I would love to be the one to put this one back on the road. There are two kinds of people. Car people who would love to see that on the road. And greedy non-car people that see only dollar signs. Good luck! DMac
