I just saw a 60hp Ford block with stainless steel plates on the side of the block. Does
anyone have any info on this engine? Was this one of Henry's better ideas that
    didn't work out?

From some of my older posts: go to google advanced patent

    http://www.google.com/advanced_patent_search

And seek out patent US2151423 open picture, #41 is the plate

I think there are 2 relevant patents with illustrations, can't find all my stuff.

They were the early 1937 castings when the V8-60 was introduced and often referred to as "tin side", after that the whole block had cast sides.

Somewhere on here or Ford Barn I've posted 2 patents on these...one shows the block structure and the other shows the specialized welding tech, I think a sort of automated s***ch weld. Sort of a relative of the tech for Model A gas tanks.

It was well done to have been 80 years ago.
