    What’s up everyone

I have a question about a steering box

I have a 37 gmc, I swapped in a 350 w/ 700r, I’ve done this a few times but on the other builds I used fenderwell headers on driver side to byp*** steering box issue

I dont really like the look of the fenderwell and would like to know if there is an updated steering box setup I can use with an updated steering shaft from jegs, speedway, etc

I’ve come across a few threads for 50s vehicles saying to use 90s caprice or Chev truck headers because they dump from the back

I’d rather get a new steering box and not use the 37 set up as this vehicle is being built to be daily driven

    Ryder

    thanks

I've been trying to figure out how to set up a cross steer setup using a later box mounted up forward for years but haven't ever taken time to sit down and work on it. Pretty much on the same line as the Cross steer on an a through 34 Ford with a stronger box. If you look at those round body early 50's Studebaker trucks they had cross steer from the factory. I have thought that a manual 68/early 70's or Fairlaine. Grenada manual box would bolt to the inside of the rail with the box sitting over the rail and the steering arm a couple of inches below the rail.

Kinda odd, are you googling “1937 GMC” and joining forums to make folks aware of your parts?

RYDER, I had, at one time long ago, installed a VEGA box on my '36, mounted just ahead of stock box location and used a JEEP tie rod end on the right side to capture the drag link. Just stock 2" rams horn with the rear facing dump on drivers side. No clearance issues at all. Sorry no pics of the set up. Good luck, Mitch.

Actually trying to contact him off eBay they monitor messages and won’t let you contact direct. He wants them but trying to speak with him direct about fitment etc.
