    Hey Guys,

I currently have a 37 Lasalle box installed in my Model a with a 50 olds bellhousing.

Did I need to put a clearance hole for the top shift rod? I know the bottom right shift rod comes out of the transmission but was not sure of the top rod?

If I need to put a hole in the bell I am going to need to pull out the engine and transmission (which would suck)

    Your help is appreciated.

Yes, you will need to drill the hole. Sorry for the bad news!

I was afraid of that.....I thought it did not come out of the face but I guess it does.

  4. I have a 37 lasalle in the shop and a 50 bell. I have always been told that they work without any mods. I will check and get back to you.

    Sent you a PM.

You dont need to all the way through the bell for the shift rod. If you do put a patch on the inside of it or some times you get oil leaking into the clutch area. Some guys used to put an o ring in a small groove in the housing, if drilled through. Thanks R&P BLOWER SERV.
