Who drove the "other" Stone Woods and Cook" car?

  12. How 'bout another pic request? Anyone remember a '40-'41 pickup from a circa 1972 issue of PHR...silver, 427 Ford with dual fours...extremely cool stance?

Weasel......My wife and I feel for you Guy......I hope you don't lose to many cars and parts ,the garage can be replaced. I know that you have some GREAT cars. I hope you did.nt have your Woody wagon in there? I can only imagine the water, mud and rocks that made their way in to your garage. If it has'nt floated or tossed them around in the water you might be alright. We both wish you the best.

I remember one that fits that description but was dark candy blue with cragers? Is that the one you are talking about? If so, I believe I have some photos of it....Ed

Yes I have seen the '39 at the NHRA Museum Twilight Cruise. I think it belongs to Rob Marchese who is a long time hardcore Willys guy.

Thanks Randy and Yvonne. Unfortunately the 440 woodie wagon project was in the garage - it was filled with mud and water - see tide mark on the hood below. I am going to see what damage has been done once I roll it outside, but it does not look as bad as I first feared. It had all the woodie specific parts, including a lot of original wood panels stored inside. I am not holding out too much hope, although the sheet metal looks as though a trip through the blaster will revive it. The '58 Chrysler is a total loss and fared much worse. I still have the Reath Automotive built dual quad 392 though, which I had not yet installed in place of the 354 currently in the Chrysler - hmmm - Willys plus 392 hemi....;)

I wish you did'nt live on the other coast. Makes me just want to get out my shovel and boots and help you get dug out. I get a sick feeling when I see pictures like that.Seems like you guys got all the rain and were getting all the snow.
I just saw on the news what was happining over in Austrailia and was thinking of what those poor people are going through also. Hope you are able to save most of your stuff. Wood is only good if your building a boat.....but not a classic car. Randy

The truck you're describing sounds a lot like Bill Burch's Willys pickup. It started out a bright metallic blue, and later went to darker candy blue over pearl black. It has long been one of my all time favorite Willys. I remember when I was a kid and the Hot Rod 7/84 issue came out, there was it and the Flirtin' with Disaster (ex BC 33 Willys) in the same issue. Burch's Willys pickup was special to me because it was street driven, and still ran mid 10's at the track, and was fairly consistent (for a blown car). It remains one of my favorites today.

  28. That Burch pickup is just about perfect in my book!! I'm a bit partial to FE's....lol I can remember the Hot Rod issue that featured it. I still have it somewhere.

    Micky,
As far as anyone know the family still owns it. Randy was a great guy.
