I crewed on this truck back then. It was an original, 1942 U.S. Navy truck. Carl Hegge found it and built this truck. After Carl sold it, it was in Hot Rod magazine under the new owners names, Haynes-Dominick. Last I heard, it was in North Carolina and being put on the street.

It seems like that back in the 70's, Hot Rod had a one page article on a Willys coupe out of So Cal that was orange (orange-ish) and called "Tequila Sunrise". Does anyone else remember this car, or were the 70's not too kind to my mind?

Yes. Someone recently restored that car. It's on the road again. I've seen pictures of it recently on the web at some So-Cal car shows. I may be able to dig up a pic or two tonight.

That sure jibes with my memory. Really dug that car. Thanks for the picture. That one and the red one with the Logghe Bros. chassis that Gray Baskerville did a road test on in the mid 70's have haunted me for years. I wanted to build my own version of this and found out that a the father of a freind had a long neglected coupe. I tried unsuccessfully to buy it for nearly 20 years. Thanks again for posting the pic.

I think Rick meant one of the pics I posted....on the subject of pics... I'm quite grateful to all the photogs that took all the great pics... Unfortunately its very hard to tell who took a particular shot.... The only way I know who took what is if the photo has a credit on it... I would not and have never cropped out a photogs credit... What I post, is in the same format as I got it..
Thanks again for the GREAT memories!
