I have a picture of the car in a 1989 Phoenix Az. autotrader [I saved the picture in my album]. I checked out the car back in 1989. Total rust bucket but a true conv. You could see the ground without opening the hood. Asking price back in 89 was $9500. If I could scan it, I would post a picture of it from the add. 392, hilborn,Vertex mag. and magnesium rims.

Im glad you posted that here, I seen you had posted in another thread. That was strong money for that car at that time but, it was worth it! It has to be somewhere, nobody in their right mind would have scrapped that rare Willys. I wonder where they came up with 1 of 4 made? Maybe someone in the HAMB knows the shop selling and could do some detective work, finding that car would be better than money in the bank!

I too have heard the figure of four made in 1940 but nothing ever to substantiate it. I posted earlier in this thread about the 1940 convertible made for FDR which resides in The Little White House in Warm Springs, GA. This is a true factory built car and is a coupe with the roof hacked off and sealing caps welded on the header, doors and rear behind the seats. It has the optional for 1940 running boards.

    Rocky,

If you are trying to I.D. your front end, here is some info that may help. The Hill-Zartman fiberglass front ends were in pieces (fenders, hood, and grille section). I don't think they ever made a one piece, but it could have been easily glued together. Also the grille section used for a mold was the original Flithy Forty steel part, so it has a two section grille (two holes) rather than the single grille opening like the 1941.

This photo is an original Hill-Zartman front end (4 pieces) from 1962. Good luck!!

Video of my car at Greer Dragway S.C. Probably taken around 1980 or 81. At the time the car was owned by Sunny Chapman of Ashville N.C. I bought the car from him in 1982. After hearing it run I may have to start gathering up some small block parts. I still have the original clutch pedal.
