  1. The metal pieces are identical to my straps, but the actual pull material is a braided (round) rope style.

Wow! Those pictures of Dave Rowe and his Crazy Horse Willys were cool. Talk about digging way back in treasure chest. Those shots of him sand racing were just too much! Doesn't surprise me much though. If you ever met Bill Rowe in person like I have you would know with him and that car, everything form of racing was game and wide open.

Haven't seen are talked to Bill in a while. Anyone know if he is still in Arizona and if he still has the Willys.

And while I am at, how about Bruce Gonzales from Arizona, anyone know it the he still around. This guy was a "Willy Guy" from long ago. Built many Willys cars and was a great guy who I learned alot from.

Any updates on these guys would be appreciated!

Haven't met him personally but I know his son through a mutual friend. Still has the car, just looks a little different and sits on a trailer alot these days. Also not sure if Crazy horse 1 and 2 were the same car, heard the orange one may have been wrecked? Someday I'll try to get the scoop from the horses mouth LOL.

Have also heard the name Bruce Gonzales a few times but don't have a face to put with it.

    Hey Landseaandair,

Thanks for the updates on Bill Rowe and the Crazy Horse Willys. Looked at your picture and the one in the picture looks different than the white and red car. Maybe just me.

Would really like to find out about Bruce Gonzales if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks again! Now back to the regulars show.

I moved to AZ 7 years ago and met Bruce Gonzales. He is a great guy and very knowledgeable on all things Willys. As far as I know, he sold all his cars and was more focused on his family. He does attend nostalgia events and helps crew a FED at cacklefests, etc.

Dave, can you verify the photo source?
    To me it looks photo shopped;

Front tire looks too large and the wrong angle ( also rough edge cut along the lower front wheelwell opening).
Paint color has been changed (side trim edges are not crisp)?
Side window tinted and the windshield looks to have a possible outdoor reflection-on a car shot indoors?

Pretty sure it's the same car, Summers axles, wheelie bars, bumper, etc. look the same. I wish I had a pic of the trunk lid with the red and white paint, I wanna say it had a pretty slick mural with Crazy Horses head donning a War bonnet.

Hey Guido, I'm on hiatus from my Willys. I have 2 teenagers that have been taking up all my time and money.
When they leave I will get back to work. :)

I've just found my project Willys starting point - it's a 38 and I can't wait to see it, its somewhere between Oregon and the UK right now though.

Man, I am loving this stuff. I have been following this thread since the beginning and continue to be amazed at what is still being found out there.

Does anyone remember back in the mid to late 70's Hot Rod doing a rod test of a bright red '41? Seems like it had an old Logghe chassis and a small block Chevy as well. I remember it sitting much lower in the front that I was used to seeing and it has stuck in my mind since. Wonder what that car looks like today. Does anyone remember what issue it was in?
