I always liked the '37 GMC better than the Chevrolet.

Does someone have pics of a 37 DeSoto? One of my favorite deco designs - except for the aforementioned too-high headlights.

I'm in Michigan this week for work. Figured if I had to drive, might as well take my Chevy. And I checked around and found a local parking lot cruise night 15 minutes from my hotel, so I might as well go. Spent a lot of it chatting with the owner of the other 37 Chevy, and a guy with a nice 40 Chevy.

  13. For years I've been saying that '38 Ford was the first truck to have a front opening hood. I stand corrected--looks like from the pictures that '37 Studebaker truck hoods open in front.

Since my first 37 Chevy Coupe in the 70's I was drawn to the Harley Earl Speedline Styling the these cars.
After the Coupe I have had several 37 Chevy Sedans, a Custom window Sedan Delivery (last seen on west coast), a Panel Truck (still around owned by a friend), a Custom Kingcab Pickup (now owned by my Son in Michigan) and one of my current rides a Chopped 37 Chevy Sedan.

I too have long felt that 1937 was the high water mark for automobile styling. Never before, or after, did so many manufacturers produce such a wide variety of fine looking automobiles in one model year. As has already been noted almost every model of every marquee contained superb styling. I had a '37 Studebaker Dictator and a '37 Coupe Express. They really made me appreciate the art deco styling of 1937.

So what caused this revelation for 1937? They start chlorinating water a few years earlier? A vaccine of some sort to fight right angles? Meteor strike in Mongolia? Volcano blow it's top in Malaysia? Gary
