Do not know Willys pickups so stupid question. When the green pickup rebuild to beautiful red was the bed shortened? Picture of green bed looks longer could be picture

Not a stupid question Mike, to be honest with you I forget however...
he did replace the rear stock fenders with early Dodge pickup fenders so that just might be the answer
    [might appear shorter]...

    Important question/need advice.
Are these wheels accepted on the HAMB?
All due respect, just don't want to get kicked off.
    Been warned... Dick Beith wheels.jpg.jpg

ET Mags were created in 1961 by Richard Beith while working as a high school metal shop teacher. Beith invented the two piece mag wheels, Uni-Lug, and was first and only one to produce one piece high pressure die cast aluminum alloy wheels.

I know that Centerlines are not allowed but it's hard to find a definite answer as to exactly what wheels are
    and are not allowed.
    Anybody?

Pretty good question, there are other cars here with ETIII wheels. I am unsure exactly when they started making them, I think they are ok here. But @Mick Coyne I deleted your post above about your buddies pro street Willys. PRO STREET IS OFF TOIC HERE. Like I have mentioned to you in the past I could move your threads to the off topic forum, then you can post whatever you like

    Moriarity, thanks for answering!
    No pro street, got it!
ET111 wheels are OK, great! That's what I wanted to hear.
All due respect, I like keeping it here.
    Much appreciated,
    Mick

Basically Mike, if it was a wheel you saw in 1965 or before, it probably is acceptable. Your Halibrand look wheels are close enough to the originals that your car has the look of all those gasser greats we remember.

Thanks mohr hp, just want to stay within the guidelines so I can stay with this segment of the HAMB.
    Glad you like the Gassers!

    Mick,

Your Coupe has a Mazmanian look. I like it a lot, with the color, the wheels, the stance and the header collectors hanging down plus it’s a steel Coupe. Nice ride

Glad ya like it elgringo71, thanks!
I thought about putting some type of lettering on the doors but decided to leave a "blank canvas."
It's been such a fun build.
I remember watching the Gassers race in the 60s, thought to myself
    "one of these days..."

Such a cool car, great history too. Thanks elgringo71.
I used to watch that car go down the track many times. Big John advice.jpg Big John.jpg
I got to spend some time talking with him in Bakersfield at the California Hot Rod Reunion,
    years ago of course.
Got some advice from him about quarter elliptic rear leaf springs.
What a great guy he was...

On page 22 I mentioned Dick Morago, he concocted a book of my car.
He also made this collage [thanks Dick], Collage from Dick Morago.jpg

At a show way back a guy had a '38 four door. He had shaved only the rear door handles and it took a little while to notice that it wasn't a two door.

The 1938 Willys sedan that was converted from a 4-door to a 2-door was owned by Kenny Swanson until around 2014 and was previously owned by Everett Gray in Illinois. More recently, the car was seen in California, with owner Michael G Brattland searching for information about its current status in early 2024.

Decided to go to lunch today at GNs Cafe in Concord,
Elaine, Joey and myself, took the Willys.
Stopped for gas then had a great lunch.
Leaving the restaurant I was at a green light on Detroit making a
    right turn.
Half way through the turn at a 45 degree angle a truck "trailering"
a red 90s Corvette didn't see me, heading straight for us.
If I stopped he would have hit me, if I braked he would have hit me so, having no choice, I gave it half throttle.
At that angle and tapping the gas, the car spun out sliding sideways
180 degrees, heading for the curb.
Hit the brakes and it stopped a few inches away from the curb while
Elaine [wearing 3" wide seat belts] was hangin' onto Joey.
This car is made for going straight, not drifting!
No damage! Somebody is watching over us.
The guy in the truck gave me a wave as he drove off, taking it as an apologizing wave. Afraid of Joey no doubt.
Came home, jumped in the pool to cool off.
Ahhh, had my hearing aids on again, second time I've done that.
    Son of a beach ball.
