Has anyone ever come across this situation? One side of this 81A-7222 tower was drilled and tapped and not the other. Is this a factory defect and how would you get the detention ball and spring in and out?

I have come across this before, just remove the 2-3 rod first then the R-1 rod, ball and spring will come out, to ***emble you will need to depress the ball and spring while pushing the rod through.

Ok thank you that helps a lot. I wasn't sure if I was going to have to drill out and tap that other side.

Joblot was selling repro 3 inch forks for a few years before they went out of business. Not sure if anybody kept it going but van pelt would know.Original ones are still pretty easy to find at swap meets etc.sometimes you find them in the single detent shift towers which can be bought cheap.

There is a guy in Iowa selling modified shift for for 140 bucks. It is a earlier fork with a side shifter fork tig welded to the earlier fork. I bought one for my project. It looks great! I found him on Ebay by searching the Ford part number for the 39 type fork. I cant seem to locate the paperwork I had for it. I will keep looking and repost when/if found.
