Hi, I am in need of some photos and measurements of the cowl mounting flange on 40-41 Ford truck front fenders. I am looking for photos of the top area where it mounts to the cowl, as well as a measurement from the black sharpie line in the second photo to the center of the cowl mounting hole. Thanks in advance for your help!
I’m here but not here, I’m just off the golf course so I will photo up and hit you tomorrow. I have what you need.
I just saw this and will snap some pics tomorrow …… If you have the inner fender panel and the back hole for the cowl bracket is still in place, bolt it to the fender. The car inner fender panel is the same. That will give you the correct location and curvature of that back hole to form a patch. That back hole follows the curvature of the inner fender panel but after that hole the lip goes in so it will lie flat up against the truck cowl. I know some guys put holes in that portion of the fender to bolt into the cowl like the 40 cars do but normally you have that one back hole and the next bolt location is the rounding board. I think there is one bolt that goes into the frame rail but they disappear over time so you may not have one. Again, pics tomorrow ….
Pics …. first 3 -passenger side 4th - driver side Last 2 - pass side lower frame bolt hole distance between the last bolt hole and the the next one towards the front is 9 3/8” center to center Hope this helps you ….
That tells me exactly what I need to know, thank you! I spent hours scouring the internet for photos and couldn't find anything.
Glad to help - Lord knows I have asked for it many times but it’s nice to pay-it-forward …… Post pics once you get it sorted …..
Thanks again for the photos and measurements. I was able to do a little forensic reconstruction and scabbed it back together this evening. Unfortunately I don't have access to the truck to test fit them, so I suspect they may still need some tweaking to bolt up, but at the very least the fender is no longer flapping in the breeze.
Nice job on the repair! As long as your inner fender panel fits nicely, you should be golden. I just love it when another 40-41 Ford pickup comes together ….
