Do yourself a favor and do a google search instead "Hamb banjo rebuild" should do the trick.

  5. Might help you a little if you would use a computer rather than your damn phone..READ some of the instructions provided by Ryan..The Phone app does not do everything needed for proper browsing

Probably the most key item for a quickie "refresh" is to realize the gaskets don't just seal the rearend, they are also shims. If all you are doing is replacing gaskets, make sure you have the exact same thickness replacing on each side (they are different).

Alchemy makes a very crucial point. Not sure what you mean
by "refresh" but when it comes to taking a banjo apart it's a ton
of work, requires special tools, is not easy and can "howl" if
reassembled improperly - leaving you in a world of hurt. If it working
fine now, just change the gear oil and let it be. I Use STA LUBE GL-4, 140 . If you live up north you might want to use 85W-90. I use the same gear oil in both OEM transmission and rear end. Do not use GL5 in transmission as it dissolves yellow metals like synchros -over time. However, there is lots of discussion about this.

I did a video on my 39 banjo, the banjo starts at 5:30 in this video. There are a couple more videos after this one.
