New to the H.A.M.B and I have a 1940 bantam pick up that has been in my family since brand-new. Want to put a Ford flathead v8-60 in it and would love any help you can give me. Can I use original frame, front end, rear end what gears should I use, basically any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Wheelbase on this little truck is about 73" and I believe the track width is 40 1/2"
Sorry, new to all this. I am from Evansville, In and not great with all this computer stuff just a dumb old fireman. Did figure out my profile page and updated it and will post for help in the correct spot. Thanks for taking it easy on the new guy. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
See that ws easy Any pictures, I've never seen a Bantam P/U, plenty of sedans or coupes and even a few Austin P/U. My MG when it started its hot rod life had a Ford flathead V8-60 sitting in it that was 1962. its been 327 chevy powered ever since. I think the V8-60 would work out well. I would leave all the original stuff in it for now and see how it moves with the flattie in it. Pat
Never met a dumb old fireman before. Welcome. That's a nice looking project truck. Must be fairly rare. Good luck smart fireman with a computer.
Ain't no such thing as a dumb fireman. I've never seen a Bantam pickup, the possibilities are mind-boggling. Keep us posted.
Glad to see your photos, and I hope that you got the photos of my build and the other V8-60 build. Two very different ways to do it. Truck is in terrific condition! Don't let anyone talk you out of the headlights, including me. They are extremely rare, usually have been replaced with sealed beam headlights. I would also recommend very carefully taking out the firewall from the cowl so that you can replace it at a later date if you want to, as you said on the phone. Uncut firewalls are very hard to come by. Let me know if you need more photos. Greg in Jax
